Succesfull Flight of the 140" Aero Commander
Here is a link to the video of the first two flights of the 140" Aero Commander now kitted by Giant Scale Twins. Jim at GST was a great help in making this a success.

RE: Succesfull Flight of the 140" Aero Commander
Paul,
Way to go!!! I have one of these partially built. This makes me all warm & fuzzy and ready to get back to work on it.
I really like your graphics. You said that you had a trim shop do it??

Hei Olav, It seems like the fin of your Bridi Commander is too far back in relation to the horizontal stab.
Here´s a pic showing the tail on my 1/5-scale Shrike:

Paul,
Your Commander looks and sounds fantastic on the video. Wondering if you are using some kind of syncronizer device for the engines?
My Commander is built from Palmer Plans. Here´s a thread about a glow to electric conversion I did back in 2005

Actually I will to go back to IC power for the next season as I am missing the sound of the OS91 four strokes

What type engines are you using and are the fuel tank(s) centrally mounted or do you have them in the nacelles? Did you deviate or alter anything from the instructions? Sorry for the questions, but I can't wait to get started on mine. Still waiting on retracts[:@]

Warpsflyer:
I have two BME 50's with standard mufflers running Meizlik 22X10's. I use a single 40 oz B&B tank located on the CG in the fuselage. I have a "Y" fitting at the wing and the a one-way valve so the fuel will not run back to the tank. One fuel hose from the tank and then "Y" ed to both engines proved to be enough.
The only thing we did different from stock is that we had a new foam wing cut with wing tubes and a little more washout in it. Been so long can't remember who we used.
I am also thinking about starting another one. The one thing I would do different would be to locate the elevator and rudder servo's forward towards the center of the fuselage. This plane required 4lbs of weight in the nose and the manufacturer said that 2lbs was common. I will probably cut an access hole in the rear bottom of the fuselage and have heavy piano wire come off each flying surface some what like bent 90 degree wire on an airleron set-up using one servo in the center. (make sense?) Then I could make up long carbon fiber push rods.
Other than that, everything was good. I have pictures of the center section set-up and fuselage if they would help any.

BTW, Om my Commander I am having difficulties making a smooth takeoff. The plane tends to jump into the air. I noticed the same thing on your video, but maybe that was an elevator trim issue?

Is there any where I can get a ARF or kit of this model that you built? I would love a AeroC build but can't locate one. THer was a company that I contacted a while back but they seemed to have gone out of business, sold their plans and molds but to who I don't know.
Any suggestions???

Thank you. I am in contact with him now. This is the guy that I was looking for all this time. He is the one who bought the plans from Mondire.
Thanks again.

Do you think that the added washout is necessary? I was thinking to use a more conventional way to build the wings also. I would prefer a tube system and balsa covered wings. You are using 2-50cc engines! I was thinking about 2-G38's, may need to rethink that. Thanks for all your info.
