i was wondering if anyone has built the top flight DC 3? i was also wondering if it is a good stable aircraft to fly as my frist twin aircraft.

Did you do a search on this sitethere might be some builds. For sure there are threads on www.rcscalebuilder.com I have not built one but from what I have read in these threads I would not pick it as a first twin. There seem to be challenges with locating fuel tanks and the tail wheel makes take offs more difficult. My first couple of twins were kit bashed pattern planesadded 12 to 16" span and a couple nacelles. Lots more wing area compared to a DC-3 (Midwest Strikemaster and Bridi Super Kaos)

The DC-3 is a great airplane but does have bad habits. If going glow and you have a motor quit, there is a strong possablity of putting it back in kit form. I learned to fly twins on a HOBBICO TWIN STAR. It flew fine on one motor. Makes a good learning platform.....

Hi,I have both the TF and KMP DC3 and think I can say this: The KMP flies a lot better than the TF,propably due to size and weight..
Have a engine out on TF:s is a thriller,with the KMP it was actually a "non event" just kept the speed up and landed it after propably a minute..And I have flown it several hours this summer..
The TF is a bit on the heavy side compared with KMP,and the wingload is higher..
For me the KMP is the easiest twin I have ever flown and i like it,but it might be a good idea to try a twinstar or something less complicated as a first twin..
Low wingloading and no retracts might be a good idea..

That will give you a good idea what building the DC-3 is all about; nothing very complicated, but be prepared to spend some time to finish the project.
