Making progress on the 310. Started June 21,2021 and am just about ready to shoot some color on this big bird. All parts are in primer. Can hardly wait.

Looking very good, keep us informed as to when the maiden is. Wished I had time
and resources, I'd build another.

More progress made. Pulled tape and masking and wow better than I thought. Tail feathers all painted blue. Got 1 outer wing panel and center section to paint white and trim colors on those. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

After breakfast a club member wanted to see the progress on the 310. We put some parts together for the 1st time and wow were we surprised. Getting ready to put stripes on tip tanks and nessels. Put tint on one window to see how it looks. Putting stripes on tip tanks and nessels shortly.

At the point the outside is done now all the stuff inside to make it move and wiggle. Looking at the 1st of the month to maybe maiden it. This is a picture of the full size that the owner graciously let me copy the color scheme

Went to the field to do some engine ru-ups, taxi-steering, & break system checks before the maiden. A few adjustments but looking good. A few days for corrections and this bird is skyward bound

Oh wow it has been about a year since I last worked on my 310.. but we are back at her now.. About this time last year a guy I know came and asked if I would show him how to glue hinges into an ARF.. a couple weeks later he wanted me to help / teach him how to scratch build a plane.. there went 3 months I will never get back.. Also I have started doing instruction at my club.. In the past year the shop has been busy... two scratch builds , four major crash repairs and misc other repairs... not all mine either.. just one of them..

So I am now back to the 310 and last I posted I had installed the retracts.. and now trying to install new updated wing tubes.. not so easy with a restoration.. the 3d printer has been priceless as far as making jigs to help with the alignment..

I have in past year become fairly good at using a cad program and my flat bed CNC mill... great for making new parts

Well all the work and 14 months of building has paid off. I got my 310 in this month's
Model Airplane News as project of the month.
With only choosing 12 a year for this it shows with persistent what can be accomplished.

Secondly it is with sadness I have to inform you all that Greg from G & L Hobbies is no longer producing glass parts for the 310
or anything else he had on his web site and the business is up for sale as a whole entity..........

Thirdly, I have to inform all of you that I will no longer be monitoring this thread but I will leave it open for anyone wanting to post
pictures of their builds and for anyone wanting to communicate with anyone still actively building and flying the Bud Nosen Cessna 310.
The reason being I am currently going through some severe health problems, not Covid related, but last month I had to have 2 surgeries,
one to remove a cancerous cyst from my vocal cords which was discovered after I list my voice in January of 2021, on that front I won't
have to have Chemo or radiation. The second operation was biopsy on my right lung which determined I have a condition known as
Usual Interstitial Pneumonia, basically it is a hardening of the lung walls and there is no cure for it, I will have to be on oxygen and
an inhaler for the rest of my life, however long that will be. So my modeling activities are at a standstill and I will probably never be
able to fly model aircraft again or build any for that matter as fumes from super glue and other chemicals we use will only make life
miserable for me.

Well gang haven't been around in quite a while, hope all of you are still enjoying all parts of your hobby especially those still flying and building Bud Nosen Cessna 310's.
I am still alive as of this writing but I'm very restricted as to what I can and can't do, I am totally dependent on Oxygen 24-7. Back in December my Doctor told me I had
only 4 months to live at the most. Well I'm still here but can't do much of anything, get tired very quickly and I'm on 5 liters of oxygen a minute. Don't know how much more
time I have left on this earth, but I strive to do as much as I can every day, as my wife is also an invalid and is at present totally wheelchair bound. Thanks for all of your prayers
in the past keep them coming I appreciate it very much. Will check in here from time to time to see what is happening in the world of modelling.

Yours very truly,
Bill Diedrich

Finishing up some odds and ends. Installed Robart retracts, added a nav light kit with strobes, strengthened the vertical stab, finishing up the servo hatches and almost ready for engines. I am considering offering this for sale before completing the nacelles.

Hello Bill, first, I will keep you in mind. Health problems and at least no chemo or radiation. I will say my prayers for you and your wife. Keep looking forward-onward and upward~~
this is my first look at your plane. looks interesting. if you want to sell, feel free to email me. I'm around. You will have to educate me some on the Nosen. I had the Top Flite 310, and loved it. regret selling it. Anyway, your health first, and if warranted, feel free to contact me, Orion4455, then we can talk by phone. thank you and best regards, rjg.

Hello

I never got the chance to start my 310 and had to let it go, prostate cancer got me and the radiation beat me down but I do see some improvement?

The 310's shown here are fabulous, I am not sure what to do with the OS 160"s I have, can't use them now! god bless!

Default New to Nosen 310's

Saw this forum, and took and interest in it.... I am up in Washington state
I have a old Nosen 310 that was acquired from a scale builder down in New Mexico, and was build in 2009... never flown.
This particular plane has a 3-piece wing with 2 wing tubes that are 3/8" aluminum, which I believe is "way" too small.
Saw reference just a few post back, indicating "upgraded" wing tubes....Anyone know what diameter those wing tubes might be (carbon fiber, I assume)?

Yes that was me.. sorry for the delay.. have been really busy.. but the tubes are 16 and 23mm outside and the matching pair are 2mm smaller.. kind of a doubling effect.. so they slide inside each other.. I got them from ZYhobby cheap.. but the alignment was critical and that is where the 3D printer came in making jigs to do the alignment.. took weeks to get it all just perfect. the center section is almost done.. all the sheeting is pretty much back on.. will post more pics later.. but next the firewalls need to be replaced..

So it has been over a month since I last .. Wing is now finished.. and started on fuse.. installing the nose gear retract.. Had to cut off the front of both nacelles since they where both angles left.. did up some new frame work for inside to help support the new firewalls.. got the air tanks installed and some 3D printed battery trays.. Picked up the covering today.. that was 250 dollars canadian.. so here are some pics of the progress..
