RE: <span class=
Hello,
I am rounding up parts, drawings and information on the subject D18 modell. I have a wonderfull OS 160 Gemini twin that happily swings a 18*6 in my GG Ultimate @7500 rpm (love the size of that prop disc on approach...) and am now thinking of finding it a mate to power the Beech. I know you guys in the states love lots of power so do you think I am totally off the mark with that engine choise? When reading what folks get out of their Z38's it seems to be about the same rpm with similar prop. I always build light and have a feeiling the 160's should provide ample power for scale like flight and cover an engine out. On the weight issue, based on my earlier work I feel the Beech should come out at somewhere around 20-22 lbs. Your thoughts on the matter would be highly appreciated.
Regards
Thomas

Thomas:
If you can hold the weight to ypur 20-22 pounds the 1.60 twins should fly it acceptably.
But if you are building the Ziroli design I think you have the chance of the proverbial moth in h***.
Bill.

RE: <span class=
If you intend to build the Ziroli design or that size scale, you would be doing well to keep the weight under 30 lbs.........judging by mine.Dont forget you are dealing with retracts on three wheels, fully planked fuse and wings,a difficult twin rudder servo linkage or multiple servos.Speaking of servos mine will have 10 which means multiple batteries and probably two receivers. On top of all this the design tends to be tail heavy and some builders have had to use many pounds of lead to locate the cg.

RE: <span class=
I just started a scratch build project with the T-50. It's currently in the thought and math process. Gathering info and paperwork.
The Beach 18 is on my list, and I may consider doing both models at the same time?
I have absolutely no interest in extremely large models. My 1/3 Gee bee Z, which still isn't completed is 90". This project was from the late, Don Neill's plans. I'll probably never finish it.
The "only" Beech I would consider building, would max out at 1/7 scale. That would bring the span to 81.75" A round off at 82"
Certainly large enough for me. Anyone seen the tri-gear aircraft? Interest? I may just do it.

You never have sent images of your D-18 for posting in the customer section of FliteMetal.com. I
would like to add them at your earliest convenience as I am editing the site during the holidays.

RE: BeechCraft D18
Thats a mighty good looking plane there Han !! I have all your videos on my You Tube favorites already! I really enjoyed the build thread, thanks for doing that. I am planning on upgrading to Zenoah G-45's this Winter....I may add a duel smoke system....it's time for me to go vertical....I was the gas engine beta tester for the "Twin Sync" engine syncronizer, which also has the ability to pull the good engine back to idle within 1 second after an engine failure. You will just see your plane slow down....and you will know you have lost an engine,,,just pull your throttle stick to idle to reset, and you can now throttle up the good engine to stretch your glide. Mine weighs about 43 lbs. RTF but you can't tell by the way it flys. Send me your email and I will send you the link to the "Ames multifly event" we had this Sept. The multi engine aircraft ONLY event was the 4th year and it gets bigger each year. I would have enjoyed flying mine at your event in Holland! If you like my D-18,,,your just gonna love my 24% Cessna 414 I will complete this Winter........ Rick Simmons

Is there a reason you can't place that "link" in the Forum?

OK, here it is ,,but the last couple of links I tried to post, did not work so we will see if this one dose. I copied and pasted this from a link that worked.http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...rticle_id=1047
Try it. Look down at the bottom of the pics and see the 2 options for the vidios, the 9 meg, or the hi def 32 meg version. Rick
