The 'Red Devil' brand of light Spackle is the best. It 'dusts' when sanded instead of balling up like some of the other brands do. I have tried them all. Thin CA can be wiped over the surface as well to give it more dent resistance. This can then be sanded as well.

Hello all,, I have built a 72-inch C130 to be powered by 4 Speed 400 motors. The only thing the "plans" don't mention is where to balance the bird! Can anyone suggest at what percentage of root chord i should balancxe to be sure it will fly, please?

RE: C-130 items

25 to 28 percent of the chord is pretty standard.

Thanks, Lifer. I also found that the full-size plane uses 19% - 30% for takeoff, 16% - 30% for landing, which is quite a range.
I posted a build log of sorts here.........

What did you have to do about making sure there was equal thrust on each motor? I think that even though each motor is made the same, they have different characteristics, or is it so small that it doesn't even matter?

There IS a small difference in the thrust - I'm using two different types of Speed 400, with the higher revving ones on the two inside positions and the slower revving ones on the outer positions. There may be differences between individual motors, but there is no apparent effect on the flight characteristics - it just floats happily around the sky.
