What's the biggest multi-engine model you,ve ever seen?

I'm just curious as to what's out there. The largest one I ever saw was at the old Byron Originals show. It was a B-26 that had a rudder that came up to the middle of your chest!

MinnFlyer...A B-29 with a 20' Wing span belonging to Mac Hodges....Has 4 Q-100's or maybe ZDZ-100's can't remember the powerplants offhand.....also drops Bell X-1 from a pylon under wing with a working"rocket" motor.....Quite spectacular to watch.......Does inverted passes with vertical 5 ' from the ground.....Bill.... :D :D

big planes

Europe does not have all the lawyers we have.
They therefore can exceed the 50# limit to their hearts content.
Go to http://freespace.virgin.net/bigstuff.uk/bigstuffuk/
for the big planes in Europe.

Big...

That 36% P-38 is pretty big. 30" gear struts, 19' span. Maybe not quite as much span as some of the big bombers, but the canopy is about chest high. Pics in the "P-38" Thread below.

Get any of the LaFerte "Extreme Giant Scale" tapes from Propwash or SKS video. They have multi-engine R/C planes on there up to 4 hundred pounds! This event is held in France and has the world's largest flying R/C models. These are the most enjoyable R/C tapes I have.

What's the biggest multi-engine model you,ve ever seen?

There is an enormous Russian Bear on the other side of Houston at Bomber feild. This is the same outfit that buys full page ads in the magazines for thier annual B-17 rally.
I have no idea of the demesions of the the Bear, but it dwarfs all th B17"s I've ever seen there. There are rumors that its price is in the tens of thousands.
Perhaps someone else has seen it and can add more info.

warbirdz1 11-28-2002 08:44 PM

to give any info on it.. (damn!) I know I would love to
know all the specs on that Connie.. :)

Also, if you want to see the specs on the Bear, there is a section
on it at http://www.warbirds.com .. Look for th pic and then

Not the biggest but in MN we had a 1/4 B-25 that flew this past season. Is an image of it at the rcwarbirds.com site.

What's the biggest multi-engine model you,ve ever seen?

The Bear that Barney mentioned is a model of a Russian Tu-95 bomber. Wingspan is 21 feet, power (if I remember correctly) is four Saito 1.80 four strokes. The tip of the fin is about four feet from the ground and it is a beautiful model. Pics can be seen at:

www.rcwarbirds.com

in the bombers section.

Yeh, that sounds right. I believe that the 180's are a little lacking.

I remember seeing an article on HUGE C-130 in one of the models magazine that was built in Europe some where many many years ago, tail fin was taller the 6'2" tall fellow holding its tail before releasing it for take off roll. I think its wingspan was around 6 meters or more!...

I noticed at the beginning of this thread (back a few years), the mention of Ida Grove, that sure brings back some good memories. It's too bad it finally was done. I remember the maiden voyage of Byron's B-29 , it was a little underpowered and ended up in some trees. The B-25's and DC-3's that were used in the Striking Back show were some large birds. The flak machine throwing 1/4 sticks at the planes was awesome, that was some fun times. We always had an enjoyable weekend while there. When it moved from Ida Grove, it never was the same. Jim

You want to see planes even bigger than the Euro stuff? Check out the Arava Airshow in Israel. Those models are like 75% to 95% scale! [X(]

Awesome pictures, that kinda makes our big stuff look very small. I think I'll show the wife those and explain how terribly costly they must be, and that I'm going to build one. Maybe it'll make the money I spend on ours not such a bad deal after all.:D:D:D

WOW That is impressive! These pictures make my 132"WS C-130 look like a park flier. Maybe I need to move up to a 1/4 scale C-130.[8D]

The giant B-52 in England or Davey Matthews' C-17 in Ireland.

B-52 powered by 8 Wren turbojet engines.
