Wendell Hostetler has a 337 plan and it looks good as a 02-A. I love the O2-A, but i am racking my brain to figure out how to make retracts for it. Really nice airplane. Here is the link=

Retracts

Aaron:

Will check the site.
I flew about 300 hours a real Skymaster and saw the mechanincs make severals retracts of the landing gear.
It's really a complicated thing, but not imposible to replicate.
I have in the attic an old VHS showing the maintennance work on the 337. Will search and try to find someone to digitalize it...
Thanks,
Daniel

Hostetler plans/retracts

Just received my Hostetler 336 plans this week. Had them reduced to 20% scale (91.2" wingspan). Nice set of plans.
Going to build the 337 version, and currently working on design for main gear retracts using two air cylinders. One cylinder will pull both main gear down and the second will rotate the assembly back and up (requires a sequencing valve).
Long term side project.

If you do want to go through that retract problem then just build the fixed gear 336 version with wheel pants. Lots of documentation out there.

Did the millitary have any 336's in combat or where they all 337's with retracs. I got my planes in from Wendel last week and would like to have a O-2 but with fixed gear. I'll just have them stuck in the retracted position if I can't find a mill 336 to model. I dont care for the wheel pants at all on this plane.

No Sorry the 336 only lasted the first year or two of civilian production then the 337 was introduced and shortly after came the 0-2. Was a wonderful airplane to fly but sure would not want to be paying the maintenence bill on the rear engine.

Slat:

I'm confused. First you say you want plans, then you talk about "Scratch built."

So which do you want to do? Plan build, or scratch build?

Sounds like you might be planning at least partial scratch with the gear, so why not go all the way?

While there is some pride of accomplishment from building someone else's plane and having it fly, that's nothing next to doing a scratch build, start to finish, design and construction, all your own.

Bill.

LOL Damn, Bill give it a rest allready. Just kidding good points.

zanati, MAN has plans for a 40 sise plane that is called the "Airmaster" It uses one 40 in the nose and a old crank case with prop and spinner on the back. You could do some mods to the desighn to make it use two 25s.

I think I got the retacts simpled down some.

The tacs will be mounted on a rotating block.

1 doors open and tracs close togeather so they now legs points strait down and wheels are at 45`.

2 block rotats back and legs go up into planes belly

3 doors close

Block is rotated by a electric motor running a worm drive.

Have to find big ass retracs that can be set only to close at 45`degres

Danial Royal used to mahe a kit for the Cessna and the plans showed true scale outline. Royal is made by Markuta <,Something like that> now. Hobby Barn in Tuscon handles their kits.
Mario good luck on your madin flight.
