Remote Flying with VR Goggles and a Camera

I'd love to try and set something like this up on a trainer plane.

The military, and some law enforcement agencies have been using goggles with mini cams for surveillance. They have two such planes, the Dragoneyes and the Ravens, which the Army just had a commercial about. The prop is on the rear of the fuselage, before the tailfeathers, and the camera was in the nosecone. Pretty fun to toy with, only negative I saw, aside from lack of engine power, which does keep things quieter, was the lack of landing gear. I have been thinking about rigging a small camera on my trainer, and using the wireless reciever on a portable DVD player for viewing. As far as goggles go, I would suggest looking with different video game manufacturers.

i'd have to agree with you. Have you seen those planes? They are so cheap. Having to repair them is absurd to.....they oughta just buys some easy sticks and mount some mini cams on them. They would be cheaper.

im in the airforce and the gov will pay absurd prices for equipment, usually because suppliers charge out the wazoo... when me and the fam fly back home on leave, i dont ask for any kind of discount, because believe it or not, some airlines jack up prices for a "military discount" and i would actually end up paying more.....ridiculous....

You guys should check out the FPV section in rcgroups.com Also, check out rc-cam.com. There are a ton of videos posted on rc-cam
Personally, I have done this with an r/c car only since I dont know how to fly
