Ducted fans are more efficient than non-ducted, right?
but because of the added weight of the duct and air resistance, it may be worse to have it on...
It's going to be for a foamie, the Air-Hogs Storm launcher to be exact, and I found a line of styrofoam dixie-cups that are the exact right width for the prop (they're exactly the right diameter 1/4th of the way inside the "duct") then tapers a little bit... Will ducting the fan increase performance any? is there any way of testing thrust, and what kind of jump should i expect?
