Yes, we can see your questions/comments,
seems though, like everyone is busy at the moment.
Most of the questions you are asking have already been answered here or at RCGroups.

Ok, I am using it and working out that only one blade changes pitch when firing up, Is that normal, or should i fix something?

Hi Psionic,
Yes, the pitch jump it is typically a transmitter error.
Here are some photos of how I scaled the TX pots with fixed resistors or trimmers.

Hey Juha,
I posted before that I'd try and get a replacemment TX, but no luck. My RX also has some melt marks on it, but the negative pitch jump that you have seen occurs with mine too. So I'm thinking it IS the Tx and not the Rx. What do you think?
Do you think you could post a pict and some more detail about how/where to solder these resistors. I've got very little knowledge on modifying electronics like this, but I'd like to have a go.
Thanks

Lynx transmitter errors
My Lynx 380 had some soldering faults in its transmitter already as new. I wonder if any of you did get a tx with similar errors? The directions of 3D and gyro switches were reversed (see photos). So was the pitch trim on the left upper corner of the tx. I resoldered them to work correct. Also, the pitch trim pushed the blade slider against its end. I rescaled the trimmer with an added 5 k resistor.
The aileron and elevator controls produced sudden pitch jump at their ends as they seemed to drive the servos against their stops. Their ranges had to be limited by soldering 2 k resistors to each ends of the potentiometers - a kind of fixed D/R modification. Also, the elevator stick fad a troublesome affect on pitch. Pushing the stick would drop the heli down, and pulling it would add lift. I did away with this effect out by moving the links in the two rear servo horns one hole closer to servo axle. Now the pitch seems to remain rather unaffected from elevator movement.
The pitch scaling trimmer on the right upper corner (see pic) of the tx produced a different problem. If it was set to low (ccw) in 3D mode, it produced sudden jump from positive to negative pitch. This is evidently a transmitter mixer programming error. In flight, it would probably have smashed the heli against ground. In its clockwise position the trim did not twitch the rotor pitch, so I readjusted it by scaling out the defect section by soldering a 12 k resistor on the ccw end of the trimmer pot.

Juha,
thanks soooo much for the info,
I'll be fixing this up this weekend.
Are you able to give me a quick explanation of what's actually happening when these resistors are (or are not) in place.
Thanks again,
Psi

RE: 2006 Colco LYNX 380XL 6CH RC Helicopter
HI,
The pitch travel trim on the right up pot is the one you need most to correct, I guess.
The added scaling resistor just cuts away the most risky part of the pot - the travel with heavy pitch jump, and leaves only the part of the trim travel without jump. The higher resistance value of the resistor, the more it cuts away from the pitch trim movement.
Because the resistor limits the pitch trim total travel, you may have to do coarse pitch adjustments by adjusting servo horns, if necessary.

RE: 2006 Colco LYNX 380XL 6CH RC Helicopter
The left hand rotary knob on the controller controls the zero setting of the blades, the right hand knob sets the gain (how much it moves per click on the control) look at the swashplate when you move these knobs - for max collective you want the swash to move down, the right knob wont make the swash move by itself - if that fails, you may have to disconnect the little ball joints and wind them up to change their length. Make sure you look back in this thread to look for the mods I've suggested - it's a very hard heli to fly straight out of the box and the mods are simple and may save you some grief and repairs later on down the track. - I think most importantly moving the servo linkage all the way in, I found this makes it quite controllable, it's also important to have the rotor speed set right with the knobs I was talking about before when you have it on full throttle, the pitch of the blades shouldn't be slowing the motor down too much, so the rotors should be at full speed when flying if you have it set so the rotors are slow and the rotor pitch is high - you will more than likely burn your controller out. Flying it is not something you will master in 5 minutes so go slow.
Personally I found the training landing gear a waste of time, it's quite easy for the rotors to hit the balls on the end of it stuffing both the rotors and the balls.

Did you make the mods like I suggested? The balsa blades that are on it when you get it are pretty strong the plastic spares are really weak. This heli is just on the verge of not being a toy, it's not something that you can just take out and fly wherever you like and with no learning curve - you have to understand how to set it up and fly it - you have to also have either an extremly calm day or fly inside a warehouse or hall. Learning to fly with the servo setting how they come is near impossible you need to change the sensitivity untill you are good at flying it.
You will break many more bits learning to fly but that's what you have to deal with - learn on the simulator if you can't afford the bits, but if you don't want to crash it all the time make sure you fly it indoors and have it set up correctly - these helis do not come setup properly out of the box - u have to balance rotors and get the collective setting right.
You will get it, but it will just take time and money - but that's the same with anything - you are lucky that these heli's are relativly crash resistant and not much breaks on them when they hit something.3
Good luck

Hi Juha,
Which one is the pitch reverse? Top left or right.
My TopLHS says 3D SW ON<
My topRHS says Gyro Nor.<>LK.
Confusing for novices...

If the pitch does not move at all, check the transmitter pitch reverse switch, too. Mine had contact problems, required turning the switch on and off many times before started wirking.

If I knew the Lynx 380 has some bad problem like this, I would not buy it... but it's late now, I may sell it when it arrives
Colco Lama IV is good, cheap, stable. however, the receiver is mixed with esc, so if it is used for a long time, it will be burn easily... so be carefull when flying, give it some break to cool down its motors
Have you guys check Aplus 400 helicopter? Full CNC, Carbon Fiber version, brushless motor, ESC, .... with the price of an upgraded Honey Bee King I ordered one, can't wait for it to arrive
psychopat, have you tried the Walkera 53? It's bigger than Lama IV, it looks quite cool, when I have some $$, I will give it a try
