Considering simulator software to steepen my learning curve on #36 heli.
I've seen several software packages in RC magazines. For anyone who has this software, is it realistic enough to make a difference? Is there a heli model in the software that closely mimics the DG 36 in reality?
Thanks

which one you use is up to you , and how grunty your pc is , i run realflight g3 updated(photo realistic ) with an overkill pc that has among other stuff a pro 3d video card ..
its as real as you could get with turbulance drift , and slope soaring etc
, however i could easily see running realflight g3 on a pentium 2 for eg ,
i can see how it would be a joke ...not enough power to crunch all that math that goes into flying ...
a 1000$ video card is NOTHING to how much you will spend on this hobby if you seriously want to fly good...
depends what level you want to get in at ...
look around and get what you are happy with and what your pc will run with

If you have the money, i would get the G3 from great planes. Goto your local hobby store and see if they have the demo of it you can try out.
There are a few others out there like [link=http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html]FMS[/link] that is free.

I have clearveiw and I think it is pretty good for $30.00. It is better than fms and he updates it all the time with free updates for life i don't think you can go wrong. I have fms and the demo for G3 and I just can't see spending that kind of money on a sim. Unless you are really into it. You don't want to spend more than a 1/4 of the cost of you're heli. If you have a grand in you're heli than you had better get G3. I am getting close to that amount. I have upgraded a walkera 60 to a T-REX 450. I have jr xp8103 and receiver an align motor, hs55 servos, 2 2200 mah lipos all I need now is the $130.00 T-rex bare bones kit and I will have my T-rex. I have used the walkera as a demo heli. It has been through many crashes and has taught me alot. The same as a sim will do for you. Try the free than go for the demo from G3. Than buy clearveiw. If you get good and want to start 3d get G3. You will save money with all of them. Just make sure you use you're TX with the sim or at least a controller with joysticks.
