RE: Walkera 5#10
Hi guys, an update here.
I got my 1200mAh battery today in the post.
First thing.... Postage cost.... $8.90 HKD .... Which is.... $1.15 USD, posted in a box that could fit an old VHS tape.
Price they charged me? like $8 USD!!!!! Plus add another 30% tot hat $8 for AUD to USD conversion.
Ranting aside, the hyper lithim 1200mAh cell looks identical to the 2 other batteries i got from HK, 1000mah ones.
Where as the 'genuine' walkera batteries and the generic 1000mah batteries have the same dimensions, what differed was the thickness fo the wire used on the JST connector. The cheaper generic has thinner wires. This is also the case with the 1200mAh 20C lipo, but it is about 3mm Longer in length and feels a bit 'denser'.
Anyhow i charged her up, put in another 511mAh for a full 4.20V and flew the 5#10.
Timed, it did quite well. 8 mins!!! this is with Constant hovering doign some circles in my room, fighting the air conditioner trying to blow it off course lol.
Also worth to note that I still have the superskids 400 bolted on to it so its definitely ont he heavy side.
Can't wait to use this battery when my boomtownhobbies order arrives with me lighter gaui skids and Xtreme Blades.
Overall a pretty impressive battery thats physically, nearly identical to the original 1000mAh ones.

RE: Walkera 5#10
Hey guys, all my stuff arrived from boomtownhobbies.
I mounted the gaui 200 leanding gera and skids on my 5#10, plus the Xtreme blades, and heatsinks.
neat!
I had to drill 2 new holes into the gaui landing struts, the stock holes were way too narrow. everything fits together perfectly now, and damn, this thing just lifts off with the 1200mAh 20C lipo.
The Gaui gear is pretty nice. The strust are alligator style and they flex. Not as well amde as the super skids in terms of Material qaulity, but for a small heli like this, they are perfect.
If only superskids released a product for smaller heli's =(

RE: Walkera 5#10
Flight times are good mate, 8-10 mins i reckon.
The Xtreme blades do add some weight to the copter, as they are thicker. But with a 1200mah lipo it makes up for it. Hell durable though!
I've just pumped 1011mAh into my 1200mAh lipo, and it was still gettign airbourne whe i unhooked the battery (though only a few feet in the air).
Flew with, the new Xtreme Blades, pair of Xtreme lama 4 (180) heatsinks attached with a bit of double sided thermal tape, Guai 200 landing gear set.
Loving this set up right now. These 1200mAh Hyper Lithium batteies are quite nice indeed. $13 or so each USD excluding postage.

RE: Walkera 5#10
Nice setup...
I see you used the V1 Gaui LG, which are white in color and very flexible. If you can find a pair of the new Gaui V2 LG, which are black in color, they are much stiffer. Either way, a good match for the 5#10, and very light... Ted

RE: Walkera 5#10
Hi Folks,
Just got a 5#10 (2.4) from Chinese Jade a few days ago - Love the thing! I also have a little 5G6 (2.4).
I took a chance and ordered the CF Landing Gear for a Gaui 200. I'll let you know how it fits/weighs when I get it.

RE: Walkera 5#10
Hey guys! I have had my 5#10 2.4 for about a week now, great helicopter, but I seem to be having a little problem. When I plug in a fresh battery and turn the radio on somtimes nothing happens, so I have to unplug the helli and turn the radio off a couple of times until they "find" each other. Is anyone else having this problem? Is it normal? Once they link up it's fine, flies great!

RE: Walkera 5#10
Always turn on the radio first, with left stick and throttle trim set to lowest position. You have about 8 seconds to plug in battery. Once you plug in rx battery, and quickly set it on the table - do not move heli for a few additional seconds, as it will mess-up the gyro initialization. Once the Tx light stops flashing...you are set to go.... Ted

Just got my first Heli a few days ago, Blade MCX and already have my eyes on the 5 #10. Kind of wish I saw this one first. It will definately be my next one.

I finally broke the stock landing gear and had a closer look at the Gaui 200 replacements I have. Unexpectedly, the carbon fiber set was heavier than the rigid (black plastic) set. I know it's not much, but those grams add up!
Stock: 5.33
Carbon: 5.47
Black Plastic with titanium skids: 4.69
In addition, the curve on the carbon fiber struts don't fit the bottom of the battery tray as well as the plastic.
I'm not sure how well they'll hold up, but the skids, anyway, seem much stronger than the surprisingly fragile skids on the stock landing gear.
It looks like Ted was correct in his conclusion that the plastic Gaui 200 gear is the best replacement for the stock 5#10 - Thanks Ted!
All the best - Ken

Where is a good U.S. based dealer to get one from. Can't seem to find one in the U.S. besides Banana Hobby. And even the Banana Hobby ones are not the 2.4ghz versions.

I bought mine from xheli.com. I think they are still in stock. Google xheli coupon. I got a code that gave me free shipping saved $17 bucks...
Hope this helps.

RE: Walkera 5#10
not a problem
nitroplanes is $119 for the 2.4ghz i think you can use the jcpee2 jzpee2or what ever it is for free shipping with them too
now with heli`s when you get to the end of the production heli`s or whats left in stock your more than likely going to get a bad one.like a return they tryed to fix its your cash but becareful waiteing to long

RE: Walkera 5#10
The $115 price at Nitroplanes is for the regular version. The 2.4 is $149. Free shipping is nice though. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and order it anyway.
