keep it tale on, only after you have control with tale on would I recommend nose on, having two rotors makes life easier but you learn it's our own ego that hinders us the most, i.e. trying to run before we can walk,
It takes a lot of time to learn, so much changes with heli's, just because you master low hover doesn't mean you can do the same hover when it's a 100 feet in the air and over head,
keep it close and low, 2 feet is good, and tale on and get the hover right first,
and practice practice practice, plus loads of cheap battery's

There is a difference between the 5G6 and the 5G6-1. The -1 is an updated version with better servos, metal head parts and 2.4Ghz electronics. Which one did you get? You will need better skids if you are just learning. There are skids made by MIA, but they're $8 for the skids and $8 S&H. If you look at Chinese Jade's web site and go to the 5G6/ 5G6-1/ Lama 2 parts, you'll see color coding letting you know which parts are shared and which are unique to a certain heli. You can use this as a reference, but then buy from a US dealer for better shipping if that helps. The US dealers are BPP (Bishop Power Products) in Arizona or Rotor Fever in California (good service, good prices and fast shipping).
