Should have done this earlier on……
I converted my WDF4 to a brushless main using a powerzone converter. Here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7964933/tm.htm
A few months down the track I paralleled the main ESC with a tail ESC to create a brushless tail. This worked but had no yaw/rudder control. Here http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_84...tm.htm#8475075
I then acquired some information using a second powerzone to duplicate the main brushless setup. So I fitted a hexTronik 24gram 1300kv Brushless Outrunner on the tail with a TURNIGY Plush 10amp 9gram Speed Controller. I routed the main powerzone to the tail ESC, powered the TX and 4 in 1.
AWSOME results. Gyro in the 4 in 1 is very responsive. Tail responds to throttle and yaw control very well.
So here is as follows:
3400kv main – 25amp ESC – Powerzone – signal wire (negative) Ch3 on the 4 in 1
1300kv tail – 10amp ESC – Powerzone – signal wire (negative) Ch4 on the 4 in 1
Ch 1 and 2 as is.
Stock all up weight including 8.4v 650mah batt = 310g
New current all up weight including 11.1v 1500mah batt = 437g
I have just ordered a new powerzone converter that should arrive in about a week. The heli is setup and this is all that is needed to complete this mod. Here are pics and wiring circuit.
Like I said …..should have done this earlier on.
