Check [link=http://www.hobbyhavoc.com/forum/index.php?topic=231.0]here[/link] for possible answers, also where did you buy it? (we're trying to get a list of those who hard-disable them)

Good thing they disabled the airsoft gun. The Australian citizens can relax now. The dreaded airsoft R/C tank take over has been thwarted!!

Thing is, only certain places take it upon themselves to hard-disable the airsoft - whether by glueing the hatch, glueing the switch or cutting wires inside (eeek), seems to be little retail hobby shops probably scared of a lawsuits etc.

None that I have bought from ebay have been disabled in any way. Disabling airsoft guns in tanks is just following the law to the letter, but when you look up airsoft restrictions etc they basically talk about 2 things: handguns and rifles. Tanks are sort of a grey area when it comes to how Police/customs etc handle them. I don't miss guns, and I don't miss the gun crime that went with them...

All this because a guy went on a killing spree 11 years ago, 200kms from where I live - a guy that I have been in the same room as multiple times. He shot 37 people (killing 35)... including some little kids ( [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Bryant]The Man[/link] | [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_Arthur_massacre_%28Australia%29]The Murders[/link])

They were trying to ban airsoft guns here in Canada. The supposed reason was that they looked like real guns and could theoretically be used in robberies, but I can't see anyone robbing a gas station with a RC Tiger Tank....actually scratch that. People here are just stupid enough to try it.

I remember this tragedy clearly. Freedom isn't free, millions of law-abiding citizens gave up their rights because of one nutball. I don't have to guess which political ideology was in office at the time. He shouldn't have his own wiki page.

Back to tanks. If they're not listed then they shouldn't be messed with IMO. Either way, is ammunition still available for sale in country? Do you guys drive your tanks into the bushes when the police cruise by?

It would take a real ass-nazi of a cop to actually act on it, you'd probably have to run around screaming "it shoots, it SHOOTS!" then when he says "does it?" you shoot him with it... I actually emailed my local PD and asked about importing airsoft tanks, they never emailed back. Customs is the next problem, but yeah. To legally sell tanks in aus theyre spose to come with the airsoft safety switch in the OFF position... funny aint it

About the guns, you don't need them... you cannot argue - no guns, no shootings - simple

One advantage of banning all guns is that only crooks will have them .... so shoot anyone with a gun as he will be a crook problem solved .....LOL

Our country was founded with the gun. It's a big part of why we are a free people.

As pzrwest said, when you ban guns, only the bad guys have them. Several years ago there was a shooting in a school, two students went out to their cars, got their guns and took out the bad guy before he could kill again. It's a known fact in our country that every state that enacted concealed carry laws, crime went down. Those cities that restrict the rights of private citizens to own and carry guns have the highest incidents of gun violence on the unarmed population. New York City and Washington DC are two examples.

I know you guys disagree with me, we live in slightly different cultures and its these tanks that brings us together. I love to talk about politics and do that on other forums, but every so often I cannot contain myself from making a comment or two!

So, the police really don't care, that's a good thing! At least nobody is ripping the airsoft units out!

I don't disagree with you. There is no 2nd Amendment in the Canadian constitution so things are the way they are here.
Without the 2nd Amendment in the US things might be the same as they are here.

Hear, hear!! Surprising to see other nations founded on the gun, like Australia and Canada, eliminating them. Once they're removed from society, the only folks left with them are criminals and the government (sometimes they're the same folks). Lack of legal firearms doesn't equate to a lack of shootings. Daylight, armed burglaries have risen England with the removal of firearms. Personally, I enjoy owning and having the right to carry firearms (too bad I'm living right now in the Communist State of California). [:@]

But, I'm glad to hear that common sense has prevailed and you can use your airsoft tanks.

If you follow the letter of the law, you must have a firearm licence of the appropriate category to own an airsoft weapon, and it must have a unique serial number etc - its treated in the same way a shotgun or non-semi-automatic rifle is treated, which is harsh...

This is a good page on gun politics in Australia - [link=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Australia]LINK[/link]

Most of human history didnt have guns. They just hacked, stabbed, burned and chopped each other up.
Theres no such thing as an obsolete weapon. Just ask anybody who's been hit by a rock lately!

One thing you have to remember about firearms.... FIREARMS DO NOT KILL PEOPLE!!!!...... PEOPLE DO!!!!. A loaded rifle can hang on a wall for 100 years and not kill a single soul, it takes a human being to take the firearm, put their finger on the trigger and pull it for it to kill someone. A person can kill someone with out a firearm be it with a hammer, a bat, a rock or what ever.
