Ok I know that people have placed stationary guns on their fields with combat systems installed so they can add to the battle. but would it be possible to say hook up a bridge so that after a few hits, depending on the size of the bridge, it has a controlled destruction. Maybe having servos pull pins out of one end so parts of the deck swing down on a hinge and can be reset after a battle, maybe activate a smoke unit.
would this be possible say with the DBC/DBU system, or any of the other ones, or would I have to custom make a circuit to do this?

I think it would be easy enough to hook up. Nick from tankhobby dot com makes targets that light up with IR hits and he sells them for about $20 us. On request, he'd probably hook a small relay into the board for you to use as a switching device, and then you could wire up your gate raising/lowering electrics. I'd suggest using a spring loaded barrier triggered by a solenoid, or in the alternative, a servo. Its a good idea, let us know what you build as it's quite interesting.

thanks for the info. it might be a bit before the project goes forward. it was an idea that was thrown around when talking with a local hobby shop owner who is going to be building a filed in the near future. I will definatly look at tankhobby and see what they have.

The target circuit has the contact to pilot a relay, I saw it yesterday. I would put two of them, one on each side of the bridge, and each controlling half of the connection pins. After one hit, the bridge loses half stiffness, after two hits it collapses.
Great idea having an interactive battlefield such as railway modelers do with their dioramas.

Agreed Icy...
Perhaps a better way (and safer for the tank) could be used, and not weaken the tank. I'd suggest a barrier be dropped (or popped up) in the middle of the bridge when its unsafe to be used.
Perhaps a post pops up at either end (in the middle of the lane) much like the traffic pylons for bus routes they use in Europe (can't remember which country(ies), but saw bloopers on TV one evening of cars trying to mip through after busses and getting a post up the undercarriage)
Just my opinion...
