Wea is selling a Patcantenna for 2,4 GHz to use together with there big Gizmo 12-22/30 recivers. Does anyone know how to make benefit from them. Can you use one patchantenna and one ordinary antenna together or do you have to have two of them? How to best mount them on the airframe and are they worth the money? Wea is not sharing much information as usual.

Hi Jannica,
I attended a seminar with Weatronic at the recent exhibition in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
There their chief of R&D talked a lot about the patch antenna.
The ultimate solution is to get two of those antennaes and place them flat against each other. "Back to back"
The reasoning behind this is that one antenna recives everything in a half-sphere, using two you will always receive everything at full strength.
Then he got real technical, but the key point is that you end up getting a + 3 Db gain in signal strength, being equal to twice the transmitting power.
(You techies out there, that's what the man says, I don't know anything about it)
