I was going to send Tom a pm, but since we're on the subject of wing tubes and landing gear for the 28% Extra, does anyone know what Tom's fiberglass gear weighs for the Extra? I got the lightened gear for the Edge, but apparently they weren't producing anything lighter for the Extra at the time of the first shipping. The stock gear for the Extra is quite heavy, sure would be nice to shave 5 or 6 oz. off with the fiberglass ones.

I did some measurements on my Extra Special, and the longest tube it can take is 34 1/8". I guess I'll have to cut down the Troy Built 36" tube (if they don't do it for you). What's the best way to cut down a carbon tube?

Also, Tom, I'm assuming that I can take all the balsa out of the bottom of the hatch area so I can see through the canopy into the fuse. I would probably put a couple cross braces in the be safe.
I don't see why you can't do that, it's not structural.

Cut the C/F wing tube with a high speed cut off wheel such as one used with a Dremel tool. Either the fiberglass or the hard fiber cut off wheel works well. The same tool works well for cutting C/F control rods to length.

DO NOT attempt to cut the tube with any kind of hand powered saw. There is a better than even chance that you will tear the fibers in the tube that way.

I guess I'd have to soak the end with CA after it's cut and sand it down to size (so it isn't flared). Thanks for the help man!!!

Going to fly... Cheers!!!
