They all have a crash date on them, we just can't see it. [>:]

Im thinking of getting the oscillation type Perry Pump. How do you have yours mounted? On the fire wall or mounted to the back engine plate screw. If you could produce a picture that wold help out greatly.
NEDYOB
If you mount it to the firewall it won't work. The oscillation pumps depend on the shaking of the motor for the pumping action, mount it on the engine.

Hi Tom,
I found that I have both the Oscillating and the crank case pressure type Perry Fuel pump. Which do you recommend I use with the OS 1.60 ??

Use the "vp-30" 3 line crankcase pressure pump on the 1.60. here is the old thread w/pics. [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3376047/anchors_3410401/mpage_1/key_/anchor/tm.htm#3410401[/link]
You will love this combo. I had mine out yesterday and passed the radio around and suspect Tom may be getting a call or 2.
On a side note, I had a "vp-20" shaker pump that was not producing the proper pressure. I contacted "perry/conley" and explained my mounting on the backing plate w/ the engine 90deg so the pump set vertical. Perry recommend remounting it hanging off the lower edge of the firewall so it was further away from crank center line and setting horizontal and it made a huge diffrence.

Capthis, try a Pro-zinger 18x8 on your 160 the 18x6 would rev hard but the blades flattend out and did not produce the nice pull this motor is capable of.

Yes he is correct. The VP-30 is what you want on a 2 stroke engine.

well i got the little edge yesterday so last night i checked it out and started sealing the covering down. this has to be the best covering job on any arf i've done yet. it had 2 small bubbles on the tail and all edges where sealed down tight, lines were straight and every thing matches up.
overall construction looks to be well done so far. a few of the guys i fly with have Wild Hare planes and have been very happy with them. it looks like i may be a new and loyal Wild Hare guy from now on. thanks to the wild hare crew.

Does the new batch of edges come with a engine mount and if so what kind? I'm mounting an OS 160 and if I need to do some trimming on the mount, I'll just pick up a GP 120-180 mount that fits.

The engine mount is sold as a part of the optional hardware package. I installed an OS 160 on my new edge last night using the GP 120-180 mount. Engine fits like a charm in this mount.

Did the GP mount come with your hardware package, or did you just purchase one? I'll probably just order a GP mount from Tower, unless WH sends me a GP mount insttead of the Dave Brown mount.

We stopped supplying the mount with the HW package because what we had was almost never used. Right now there is no mount in the kit.

I have ordered some Great Planes large mounts. As soon as I get them we will change to two different HW kits for the 1.20 size plane. There will be a gas only kit for $58, and a glow only kit for $63 which will include the GP mount.

Looking for an opinion.... would the new OS AX 120 be enough engine? I see lots of 160's but of course I have to be different. Not to mention that the stock muffler can be twisted into a quasi pitts muffler as well.....

It should have plenty of power, making it balance will be a challenge becxause of its very light weight.

a65l, if you want power to do 3D go with the 160 and a perry pump.we are flying one of these with the 160 and the power is awsome and i wouldn't want any less. the 73 edge is a very good flyer that can do it all so use a engine that will let it. just my thoughts.

I was going to use a ST 2300 I had on a H9 Cap, but have some concerns about midrange on that engine. Mainly used full throttle with the Cap. I thought it over and wound up getting 160 and Bisson muffler.

One question I haven't seen answered, do ya'll think Karbonite geared servos would be enough for alireons and elevators? I have Hitec 6975's for wings and 6985's for elevators. I do have a metal geared servo for rudder.

I have used Karbonite gear servos on this plane with no failures, they seem to be fine for this plane.

I am using Karbonite gears on mine with a 40cc FPE gasser... just make sure the screws that came with your servos are the long ones and you will have no problems... the first batches of Karbonite servos came with short screws and the outer gear would sometimes break.

This is the largest plane I would use Karbonte on though... I have 15hrs flight time on mine with no issues (that includes a very rough first few hours breaking in the 40cc.)

I have looked through pages and pages of this thread. If the answer to this question is posted somewhere I missed it and I apologize.

What length servo arms are you guys using all around?

Im using the blue anodized ones that came with my Hitec servo's.
Well this is a good place as any to bring you all up to date on my progress. I've set the throws on all the servos except rudder first. I then glued the hinges on the rudder and installed the pull pull cables. The Edge 540 balanced 4 1/2 inches both up side down & right side up, at 4 1/4 the plane is a tad tail heavy.
The engine still needs to be broke in, so If it doesn't rain next weekend thats what I will be doing. and a few more odds and ends stuff
How did your planes all balance laterally & how did you do it??

1.25" if you want 3D throws, 1" are better for precision. And it depends how far you set the clevices ont he horns form the surfaces too...

Be careful about the Hitec blue arms - sometimes the splines are not very tight. I prefer the the Hitec Karbonite arms over the Hitec aluminum ones. The MLP aluminum ones are best - but they are not strictly necessary for a plane this size. I used MLP 1" arms all around set up for precision flying (low rates.)

What about the rudder servo arm?

Mine is not set up for pull-pull so I am using a 1" MLP aluminum arm and a carbon pushrod with a Hangar-9 pro link set up to give me 25 deg of travel. I used a 5945 servo to be sure I had enough power. If you use pull-pull ideally you want the rudder horn to be the same width as the servo horn. There are a lot of good threads on RCU on pull-pull geometry.

Another question that's probablly answered somewhere, I wound up with a real Rube Goldberg throttle linkage. I decided to be lazy and do some flights with the tank up foward. I wound up epoxying some servo mounts below the engine box. I had to put several bends into a wire to get to the throttle. I'd appreciate pics of throttle linkages, there's probablly a simple way I am just overlooking. Of course when I get aroudn to mounting the fuel tank where it's supposed to be I'll just mount the TH servo inside the engine box.
