Default Help balancing 300LX

I am trying to balance my 28% 300LX and it is coming out way nose heavy. I have a Taurus TS52 on the front with a 2400 Fromeco battery and ign mounted on motor box.Rudder servo is under hatch in hole farthest back. Had RX battery mounted by throttle servo and moved it back as far as I could. I am marking the outer wing tip at 3" and checking with plane right side up. I am checking it at right spot, right? I dont check it 3" back at fuse? At fuse, the 3" mark at tip checks about 5 1/4" back from leading edge. What am I doing wrong? Will I need to move ign battery off of motor box and mount it further back in plane? Help me out here guys.
Thanks, Jeff

Not shure of your balance point, but if you need to ad some weight you can move the rudder servo to the tail, or put some lead into the stabe tube.

I'd move the ign battery back first, then maybe put a little ballast in the back. It only takes about 1 ounce in back to offset 4 oz. in front, so you won't need much.

Ok, but do I check balance at fuse or outer tip of wing?

You can check the balance at the fuse but you have to mark the balance points on the wing area next to the fuse.

Here's what you do. You find the balance points on the wing tips like the directions say.
THen you take a string (Chalk line if you have one) and stretch it across to hte other wing tip balance mark. Mark the inner wing where the balance points are. Now you can use the center area.

BTW, you can mark the wings with them offthe fuse. Just run the wing tube in them and mark your spots where you want to try to balance from. When you install the wings do your balance checks.

FWIW, I had to move my main battery back to just aft of the cockpit and my ignition battery was near my reciever. I used a pull pull rudder set up. I also had a 4800 main battery.

I moved the ign battery back and will make some templetes I will put between wings and fuse to balance plane by hanging it(pita doing it by myself) with at work Monday. Planes CG should be 5 1/8 at fuse with running the string across it with it at 3" on the outer tips. If I have to I can shorten engine standoffs about 1/8".
Thanks for all the replies

Here is what I did to balance my extra special by myself. I took two 18 inch pieces of 2x4 layed them flat on the table and attached a 1 1/4 inch round dowel length wise down the middle of the 2x4. I then marked a line down the middle of the dowel. I found two plastic tubs that were high enough to get the plane off of the floor. I placed my wood blocks with the dowel attached on top of the plastic tubs. I placed them wide enough so that only about 2 inches of the wing tip would sit on the dowel's. I made marks at 3, 3 1/4, and 3 1/2 inches on the end of the wing. I placed the plane on top of the dowel's and lined up the lines on the wing tip with the line in the center of the dowel. You need to make sure that you hold the plane from tipping too much until you get it to balance by itself. Once you get the plane close you can move your batteries around until you get the desired balance point that you want.

On my extra special I have my 2700 mah nimh ignition battery mounted to the bulkhead right behind the wing tube and two fromeco 2400 mah Li Ion receiver batteries mounted in the turtle deck right behing the hatch. The plane balanced perfect at 3 1/4 inches and flies great with this CG.

This description may be a little hard to understand and when I get home from work tomorrow morning I will take some pictures of the blocks and how the plane sits on them to balance.
