LR-1 Question

Tom,
I notice the LR-1 is rated up to a .29 size engine. Jett has a .25 and a .30 engine. So, if I was going to get one of these and needed to get an engine for it. Would the .25 be best or would it take the .30 OK.
Would you also say what size servos you would be best for this plane. I've never had a racer like this before so it's all new to me. also, if possible, could you email me the manual. thanks, Steve.

I've got two of these from Tom. I had a thread with some info on the LR-1, its probably on page 2 or 3 .
I ended up putting in a .36 heli engine in one and the other will be electric powered.
Glow powered is ready for maiden but I wanted to get the electric one finished so I can maiden them both together.
My heavily equiped glow version came out at just 49 oz with no fuel. Thats with 4-HS85MG, 1 HS81, 600 mah Nicad, 12 oz eng and muffler, Magnum 2" alum spinner, and no wheel pants.
You can go quite a bit lighter with a .25 and HS81's and a 350 mah pack. The wing is BIG.
Or, you could go for a hot .40 and do some stress testing of the wing in a pylon turn
There's also a couple of threads over at RCGroups in the high performance electric forum.
I think its a very good price for the all composite racer!

The electric version should go pretty fast, I would guess 120 +mph.
It will all depend on how many batteries you're willing to carry. The fuse has tons of room and the wing area is pretty big.
Another flyer on RCG has his flying on a 3S4P setup and he said that it was real fast, not F5D fast, but still really fast.
I also think that we need a minimum of 7" dia prop, so I'll start with a apc 7x7 and go from there.
The plane has landing gear, so I don't have to worry about hand launching a heavy wing loaded plane.

Sorry about the delayed response.
The plane is really meant for .25 size but several people have used bigger engines and I've heard no reported problems.
I have always used hs81mg, but 85mg might give some insurance.
