What weights for your setup are you getting with the Wild Hare Edge 540? I have one with a ZDZ 60, wrap around muffler, Li-ion batteries, etc and weighing in at a heavy 18lbs 10 oz's. This weigh down with battery replacement to Ion versus 10 cells of NiMh (sub C) that weighed in at 13 oz's more than she does now with the Ions. Weighed on a digital scale supposedly accurate to with 1/2 oz.
I would love to get close to 17 lbs even, I could swap to a ZDZ 50 and loose almost 3/4 of a lb but dont think it would perform as well power wise as it does now?
I am running all stock hardware, stock aluminum tubes, landing gear, and etc.
Thanks in advance.

mine with DA-50 2 2400 li-ions and stock everything first flight weighted at 18lb 8oz and it had unlimited vertical,,,
since I have upgraded to CF Wing tube, Stab Tube, Tail Wheel, Kavan main wheels, and CF Spinner and changed from 24oz fuel tank to a 16oz and I saved 2+ oz on the empty fuel tank alone,, Stock Aluminum LG now I'm at 17lb .
a full 24oz tank weight 1 1/2lb and I think the 16oz one is like about 1lb.
Don't change the motor change upgrade to CF everywhere but the LG Stick with aluminum!!!!!

Well I can use the ZDZ 60 on another plane I have needing an engine is one reason why I was thinking of the change, not too mention if I changed to the 50 would loose 3/4 lb. Balance would be easier with changing out to all CF tube, gear, tail wheel, etc.
At this moment I have the batts on the CG basically, with rudder servos in the tail.
Just trying to make it fly lighter on the wing, I have a H9 33% Cap that weighs 24 1/2+ lbs and flys extremely light, matter of fact if ya dont get her slowed she wont land on our field just float by, LoL.

16 lbs 2 oz.....I have weighed mine twice to be certain. Da50 w slimline muffler, light aluminum WT, light aluminum gear, JR8611 on rudder, HT5945 on all other sufaces, standard servos on throttle and choke. 4.8v 1650mah for engine and 6v 2100mah for radio. I don't fly alot of 3d so my batteries give me an hour of good flying. The lighter tube and gear saved almost a pound!!

AND THE DRY WEIGHT"
15LBS & 4 OZ!!
CF: wing tube, stab tube, tail wheel, gear
CF: Pushrods
Titanium: Control Horns
Hs-6895 Coreless karbonite all control serfaces (they say 4x as strong as nylon, I think I'll be ok, a guy uses these on a 33% and he does ok), Hs-5995 pull-pull rudder
Hs-81 Micro: Throttle
Choke: no servo
Engine: Evo 45 mag w/Inverted modified DA-50 pitts
2200 lion w/mircalse siwth
1500 lion NO REG! moded ignition to work on 7.2 volts!
Foam Wheels
Should be a rocket and light as feather!

Tom it indeed is however the original weight before maiden was almost 19 1/2 lbs. I am curious as to what bird the ZDZ 60 was actually designed to work with hehehehehe. Seems it is slightly on the heavy side for most of the 27-29% birds and underpowered for anything bigger LoL.
I am thinking of selling the 60 to buy a new 50cc engine for this thing! Wish it had enough power to fly the Giles or the 260 but alas would not come close to doing justice on either bird as I think they would be closer match for this engine, in my opinion that is.

I'm flying the edge with the ZDZ 60 and my weight is 18 pds and I get unlimited vertical. I can torque at about a third of throttle. I'm using a 24x8 BME prop and I couldn't ask for a better engine/ plane combo, the ZDZ is just stuborn cranking when cold unlike a DA. I really like my ZDZ and Wild Hare so don't be discouraged, just go fly it and you may be surprised. Wing rock is my only regret and I intend on moving the CG from 4.75" to 5.25" to see if the problem goes away.

I've got the Edge, also with the ZDZ-60RV, Super Sonic Pitts, 24-8 MCS prop, fiberglass gear, CF wing tube, two 6v NiMh 1650mah for RX, one 4.8v NiMh 1200mah for Ign., No wheel pants, CF tail gear, pilot, panel, and the rest is the stock gear from the hardware kit.
AUW . . . 18 Lbs 8 oz.

So, I shouldn't upgrade to CF landing gear? I was going to change everything out since i'm using an Evolution 58 and i'm at 5000 ft.

Hmm, he no longer carries it. Guess I'll just have to use the aluminum. I'm going to be putting an Evolution 58 in it so I should be ok with the extra 7 oz.

Mine has a Taurus 3.2, no choke servo, no pants, no spinner, CF wing tube, Kavaan wheels, and no pilot. It weighs 16 pounds even. She stripped a bit, but that's o.k.
