Default R/C ign G-62

Just fired up my g-62 from Ralph Cunningham from R/c Ign. All i can say is i was very impressed on how smooth this motor is with the c/h throttle coupled advance and ralphs work. It was very smooth right out of the box and mounted the Utlimate. It was 19 degrees outside here in Iowa and i didnt touch the needles. I didnt get a chance to tach it yet but running a NX 23 /10 prop. Very good top end for a new motor and very good midrange with no burble at all. For the deal i got on this motr from Ralph i cant complain. I run numerous Brisons and one Taurus and i know this motor isnt as lite as those motors but i think it will perform great on this bird. Started on the 4th fip . Happy camper i am.

Bruce,

The extra weight of the 62 over the DA (couple of ounces) will make balancing A LOT easier!! I don't even want to hear you when you start crowing about the power Interested in your tach numbers when it starts getting run in a little.

I will BAS. LOL!

I switched out my Fox 3.2 for a Ralph C G62 a couple weeks ago (on my WH Edge). I wish I had made this switch 8 months ago. I have it dialed in now (CG, and lateral balance), and she floats like a kite... and power... hahahahaha... I will not mention the power.... - Subliminal Message inserted- MSC 23x8 with authority pulling 17 1/2 pounds

also he said the only thing it doesn't come with that horizons does is the prop hub. his response:

Yes, this is the G62 Zenaoh engine developed specifially for RC airplane use. However, it does not come with the prop hub, otherwise the engine is complete and comes exactly how it is pictured.

Tim

his feedback is good, it looks like people were ok with it. how much is a prop hub?????

Close.

The one Horizon sells has a steel motor mount plate and also has the carb rotated about 90 degrees which makes throttle linkage hookup much simpler.

Ralph at RC Ignitions will convert that particular engine and add the prop hub for you. Give him a call and get a price... I'm thinking it is about $150 to convert and the end product is very nice. I'm sure he can send you pictures of a converted G62 so you can see just how nice they turn out.

Usually guys use the B&B cup mount, it;s very light and puts the engine out just about where you want it.

Horizon sells a fiber carb spacer that rotates the carb about 120 degrees so that the throttle shaft is parallel to the cylinder making the linkage much easier to hook up.

Erik,

Do you have field restrictions and need something somewhat quiet or can you allow some noise and maybe get a better breathing engine? The Slimline pitts has worked well for me and can be purchased with smoke tap. I think Abellrc.com has some very good mufflers that allow for less restriction and are also smoke ready.

Some others you might look at are Whacker Engines and Bennett. There is a Bennett muffler on eBay with tapped for smoke right now. Whacker's eBay store is at http://stores.ebay.com/Wackerengines

Hope this helps...

I've used them all acutally and I like the Abell mufflers for performance and I think Ralph Cunningham will agree as he has done a lot of testing using that muffler. Where around Salt Lake do you fly?

The carb rotator block is available from B&B, see http://www.bennettbuilt.com. They also have the cup mount.
