Default Fresh Ideas

I know you guys hated my last thought of having a wild hare profile but maybe you will like this one.

Just yesterday I was sitting in "the study" thinking to myself. I thought...."Self, what R/C needs is a good 50cc sized built up Votec". So how about it...A 50cc sized Votec, or maybe even one for a saito 1.80.

Well, self had a pretty good idea. I'll put it on the schedule for next year. I am fully subscribed with projects for the rest of this year.

I am not without new ideas though. What do you think of this?

Might that be the upcoming Wild Hare 33% Edge?

It has the cowl of an Extra...hmmmm....can't really tell from that pic if the wing has a tapered LE or straight....something different about the verticle stab, too.... and the Extra-ish colorscheme kinda makes you mind play tricks too

My guess would be the 28% Extra special with a smaller canopy and a Patty Wagstaff color scheme. Add water and you have a true 50cc Extra 260 with all the flying charicteristics of the 300 special that is so popular. OK Tom, what did I win??? HAhahhahaha

260 Extra fuselage with Edge wings and straight landing gear, but it's hard to tell on the wing from the angles given.

Tom, if you came out with an all wood Votec in the 50cc, 75cc, or 100cc class, you'd have a monopoly. I love the way the votec looks, but i'm never probably going to go as high as 42% planes. I would contact the people doing the new 41% plane for you about doing it. You could take 3W's idea except have one with a composite fuse and wood wings and have the option of one that is all wood.

It's a Extra 260 in the Patty Wagstaff blue scheme, with straight leg gear and Edge wings. It's the testbed for the new Edge 540T 33%.

Ok, on closer look it is a ZDZ 80 in there not a DA 50 that I thought. Most R/C 260s have strait legs. The full scale gear is pretty unique, not strait but not as curved as a 300 gear.

Blasphemy! Putting an Edge wing on an extra!

This will be an interesting project. Good luck with it!

That ZDZ-80 is actually a 3W80Xi with a canister, this plane was put together to serve as a testbed for new stuff.

It will be for sale after this test phase is done.

How is the new 3W working out? I just ordered one today for a 20lb airplane which should be stupid outrageous power, but I'm sure I"ll keep that engine much longer than the plane it's going in os it leaves lots of future options.

Hmmm, guess I win the guessing contest. So what do you think of the 3W80xi Tom? Is it significantly better then their 75?

Probably because it's just Edge wings on an Extra 260 frame.

It's Votec, no R, and it's a newer aerobatic design made in Switzerland, at least that seems to be what this web page is saying.
