For anyone interested, Taurus Engines appears to now be distributing the AXOR line of props. I haven't been home to try them out yet, but it may well be worth looking into for anyone willing to experiment a little. Contact Bill at Taurus for more information.

Pat I would say that neither DA, Taurus, or posters to this thread is spelling it correctly:
prop-An object placed beneath or against a structure to keep it from falling or shaking; a support, One that serves as a means of support or assistance, A theatrical property
The correct spelling:
Propeller-(synonym propellor)-a mechanical device that rotates to push against air or water, A machine for propelling an aircraft or boat, consisting of a power-driven shaft with radiating blades that are placed so as to thrust air or water in a desired direction when spinning.

Both the props sold by DA and Taurus are manufactured by XOAR-international Inc. (www.xoarintl.com). They are identical. As are the wooden Bolly props. XOAR-International manufactures those also, which Bolly rebrands.
I fly a XOAR 23X8 on my DA50 and in my humble opinion, it is the best (wooden) prop for this engine.

Check this out guys, last week i had a 23-8 xoar prop on my da-50 wh edge, was taching at 6800 and pulls the plane with authority, this week i put a airwild nx series 23-8 prop on,looks identical, but obviously a diffrent wood used, anyway, now the plane will only tach at 6100-6200!and it flies the plane much weaker, both props were balanced properly, also just ordered two more of the nx props cause ive heard good things, wish i had'nt now,i will definently be buying more of the xoars, they are the best prop ive used yet.

I switched from a msc 22x8 to a mejzlik 22x8 on my bme 50 and gained 1000 rpm.

The only place where RPM is significant is if it moves the peak RPM to be aligned with the peak power output rpm, this means the engine is putting out its best power at full throttle. Too big a prop and the engine will never develop full power, too small and it will be past its power peak.
Once you get the engine running at peak power, then you may want to play with different props.

I BOUGHT A XOAR 22X10 AT THE TOLEDO SHOW AND RAN IT ON A ZENOAH G-62 IN A T.F. GIANT P-51. THIS PROP TURNED THIS PLANE INTO AN ABSOLUTE FIEND, TOP END AT LEAST 40% FASTER THAN WITH A ZINGER 22X10, PROP RIP EVERY TIME I THROTTLED UP, AND VERTICALS ALMOST TO THE LIMIT OF RADIO RANGE. (I ENDED UP BAILING OUT OF THE VERTICALS SEVERAL TIMES) IT IS VERY OBVIOUS XOAR INT'L HAS DONE THEIR HOMEWORK ON THIS PROP. NO DISAPPOINTMENTS HERE. BEAUTIFUL FINISH, NO BALANCING REQD, AND BOLTED RIGHT UP (10MM HOLE).

i've been using xoar and menz 18-6 on a 72"yak w/160 os, the menz spins up better on that set up. the xoar is very good but the menz is beter. on my DA 100 on a heavy (32lb) 35% yak the menz 27-10 was the best i had found untill i got my hands on a Vess 27a you wouldn't believe the differance, vert pull out from a houver is soooooooo much better.
differant engines, shape-size-weight of plane, and flying style will keep one size or brand of prop from working for everyone. Menz,Bolly, Xoar, Vess and others have great props we just have to try them on and see how they fit our needs.

bobby, yes i am running a Vess 27a on a DA100 in a 32lb toc yak. i tried several props and the menz 27-10 worked the best until i got my hands on the Vess prop. the 27a spins up faster and helps the heavy plane out of a hover much better. it's seems to be alot better all around. now if i could put the yak on a diet and loss a few lbs it would be great.

Sounds good. A friend of mine said he used the 27 "B" and it was great!! He didn't say what the plane was and how much it weighed but I asked him for that info. I think he is on the road so it may take a few days to get back with you.

Chief Aircraft has a good selection as well. I have a new one for my DA-50 that I just got from a friend. Haven't used it yet, but it sure looks good. Good luck.

,,,,, But you are correct.
