Let me add the 3W 80XI or the ZDZ 80 is all the engine this plane needs. I fly at 5000+ ASL, and vertical is unlimited.

The down side would be the plane would be so nose heavy it probably would not fly. The prop would not clear the ground and somebody would probably get killed by flying debris.
Do not do this. A better plan would be a DA-100.

Mike,
You need some serious help my friend. The Da100 would provide more than enough but since I have one of these and a NIB 3W-80XI-CS you'll get to fly mine when it;s done since you have on more than one occasion let me beat up your 28% WH Edge

DO NOT DO IT! I have a BmE 110 on my 33% 260. Hovers are under 1/4 and even with a throttle curve that only gives around 65% throttle IMAC sequences are flown under 1/2. There was a post on another forum where two planes were built identical one with a zdz80 and the other with a ZDZ 100 the ZDZ 80 was reported to fly it better due to lighter wing loading. If you want some "holy (%^(&*%^ look at the verticle on that thing" comments from spectators get a BME 110 or BME 115, this will give the wow factor while keeping things safe and light. Or just send me your 150 There is a 41% plane someday in my future that would appriciate it.

There is a relatively new trend out since the introduction of the new and powerful 75-80cc singles. I have the 3W 80xi single on my Hanger 9 33% Cap and it is all the power you need. The big plus is that the weight of a good 33%er can be around 22-23 lb range which is excellent for a plane this size. I had a 3W 100 B2 in my Cap and at 27 lbs there were a lot of bad flying tendencies that came out mainly snapping out of stuff, these tendencies went away with the lighter motor. You have the perfect motor to install in the WH 41% Extra 300 which I have and highly recommend!!!

Guys,
I fly with Mike and I think he was just kidding around. I'll beat him up for "stirring the pot" the next time I see him.
FYI, I just got my 3W-80Xi-CS installed last night. Next will be the header and JMB canister. After that it's time to get busy ordering the servos, radio gear and such.

I am planning on getiing an Edge and I am trying to talk myself out of the notion that I want to put a BME 115 in it. I know that an 80 does a fine job , I've seen the videos ,but I could always use the BME in a larger plane down the road.
I thinking of using a 3 bladed prop to help manage the power and to keep the noise down . I'll have to use cannisters and it would be helpful to see an installation.
If you were to buy an engine to put in the Edge would you use the 110 again or the 80 based on performance only.

If I was buying a new motor for this plane that would be a hard choice. I absolutly love my 110. I have never owned a more reliable better running engine. But it is too much power for the 33% Performance will be better with the 110 (same weight more power), but I doubt if you will need all the 110 will dish out.
