A little dab of glue wil do it, or a small screw that covers the end. There is very little force on them. If you glue them in use something that can allow them to be removed someday incase you ever need to remove the surface for some reaon.

I just made sure the rod was flush and ironed a piece of covering over it. I keep an eye on it to ensure it isn't backing out and so far it has been a non-issue.

Even some goodtape should hold it.

I used both tape and a little clear silicone. It depended on where it was at the time. Tape for flush tubes and silicone for protruding tubes.
