I always have liked this one.
I have a couple of videos of the Sukhois (VHS) making their first appearance in America and one is Pink and the other was owned by Tom Jones that was balck and the schemes both look very nice.

Way back in my sailboat racing past I got a new Fuschia (That's Hot Pink in Guy colors) racing spinnaker for my current ride. The first day I took it out to practice I caught so much crap you wouldn't believe it. The old timers got me aside and said something like "Son you better be Damn fast if your going to put up a sail like that). Well after the first regatta when I was so far in front of them that they couldn't see me let alone what color the sail was -- well the color was forever more a non issue.
Put up a well flown Wild Hare Sukhoi in Pink, Purple, Mauve, Lime Green (well maybe not Lime Green) and your going to find out that everyone at the field always really liked that color.
If that doesn't work tell them your wife said you could have all the planes you wanted as long as they were Pink -- see how many pink planes show up the next month!!!!!!

My very first sukhoi was the goldberg su-26 and I did it in the scale pink scheme. Same results you experienced. Lots of ribbing and good natured fun until they saw how it flew. I had a YS FZ120 on it and it was a monster. That is the plane that truly got me hooked on RC flying. Besides, a little pink never hurt a real man.....
