Looks like you might be one of the first to get one in the air. We'll all be waiting for your flight report!! Good to see you'll be getting back in the air quickly.

no i never drain my tanks. pull your plug to see what color it is to see if that open any signs to what happen. From there you can also

check to make sure your clunk did not fall off,
battery has good voltage
ingniton is still sparking
no loose wires on the ignition
screen is clean in the carb

ect....

So may things could have been the cause of a dead stick. I have the feeling that finding a difinitive cause will be about as close to impossible as it gets.

If nothing else, it couldn't hurt to go over everything- obviously, everything gets taken out to go in the new airframe, but it would be a good idea to look for clues in stead of just stripping gear off the airframe- There's nothing I hate more than NOT knowing what happened. at least you may find a few possibilities, and every potential cause you find and correct, is one less possibility for error on the new bird-
Sorry about the loss.... But DUDE! YOU GOT TO GET A NEW AIRPLANE!!!!!! Woooooo hoooooo![&:]

Just make sure you have the basics inspected like the clunk in the tank. If that fell off it sure would die in a hover. Also make sure you have the needles not too lean. That'll make an engine die. Things like a low battery are good to check, bad switches, bad ignition, bad spark plug. Like T.O.M. says it's hard to find the exact answer some times but you want to cover the basics to keep the next one from turning into spare parts.

PS: Also look for loose carb, loose fuel lines, places air can get in and lean it out.

Sorry to hear about your plane. I lost my first 'big' plane not so long ago, and it certainly didn't feel good.

I would try to fix that one though; looks salvageable to me.

Sorry for your loss, but the good news is Your going to love the new 88". I just finished building one for a friend, and man its sweet!

With most of the work already done for you it almost takes all the fun out of it LOL. The only issues, and this is stated in the manual, is the firewall and the servo trays need some more glue (no big deal). We will do the maiden on Monday, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Great X-ray vision, will be looking forward to you pics and report.
And Guy i'm going do a full check before i fly the new edge and there will be no hanging on the prop before 3 full flights, also i'll keep it high. for a while,as someone that sells planes for a living send to me,(prop hanging is great for business)
You know the strange thing about my crash is that ever other part of the egde looks like it was never in the crash, from the prop to the tail wheel. So one day i will have to buy a V2 edge body, are everytime i see the parts I will feel it's such a waste.
no one to sell them to around here and shipping them back to the USA would cost 2 much

dredknot.... sorry to hear about your plane but congrats on the new one coming!

I too have the 28%edge v2 with a toc53.... my toc has been a great engine as well but i did have a minor problem this past season with it. My toc just quit on me too but luckily I was lined up and coming in for a landing already anyway.... the toc quit about 50 feet from the runway! Perfect timing! Anyway.... I tried to start it back up.... no go! turned out the the ignition modual crapped out on me (running on a 4 cell nimh) Sooo.... bought a new ignition from Tom and it's been just fine ever since. I heard there were some issues with the first modual running on bigger 6v packs etc.... so I'm not sure why my ignition quit???? oh well... just one of those things you can't explain I guess. All this being said.... I'd look at the ignition first.

Good Luck with that new edge you lucky *&^%$^&&!!

I'm building Old #9 of Tom's 88" Edges. Thought I would post some pics to help ease your pain!! You're going to love this plane. I absolutely love the color scheme. It's going together very easily......Tom's got a real winner here!!!! I'm hoping to have it ready to maiden in a couple more days....work keeps getting in the way....

Hang in there till yours arrives!!

Does anyone know what the weight is coming out to on the new 88" Edge?
I also lost my edge this year, so it's time to look for a replacement.
