new 88" Edge 540 maiden flight report
I can't say anything about the way this plane flys that hasn't already been said about the 84". It's the same beast with a new skin. Everyone at the field loved the new trim scheme.
It does everything well and has no bad habits.

This is by far one of the easiest arfs i have ever built worked on it for 2 hours last night and 6 today engine mounted, linkages done, everything installed except the cowl, and a few servos to install, which if i had would be installed, everything from the hardware pack was used, nice material on everything linkages, control, everything top notch. 11th plane i have built, best construction by far of anything i have ever built. Hope the snow melts soon for the maiden. If your looking for a 50cc arf definitely look at Wild Hare. P.S. Wish they includede a few Hare stickers..

dont know a whole lot about the bme 50 but im sure it would be fine in this plane. I have a toc 30% yak and the wild hare 88" edge and run dl 50's on both, plenty of power.

DO you have the new 88"' edge? How are the harriers, any wing rock?

I do not have them right now but there is a shipment leaving China on the 20th, which should be here about Feb. 15.
Wing rock should be minimal, this plane uses the same modified tail layout that works very well on all our other planes.

What does the underside look like? And does it really weigh between 16 and 17 lbs? I see aeroworks always says lower than it really is. Their planes are historically always heavy.

The spec'd weight is 16.5 to 17. One guy on here reported 14 lbs. 10 oz. I am skeptical about that, but make one <17 lbs. should not be a big trick.

RE: new 88" Edge 540 maiden flight report
Thanks for the pics nice looking plane.
Could someone please give me the width of the main gear, height from ground to top of cowl, top of canopy, top of tail and width of horizontal stab?
Oh yes and height of the main gear?
Would it be feasible to remove the main gear for transport and then install it once at the field?
I sold my trailer but, my car's back seat is removable.
Thanks

I can't give you thise dimensions, I don't have one here right now. Maybe somebody else will chime in.
When I want to make the gear easy to remove, I install the bolts pointing downwards from inside then put a nut on each one on the outside bottom, holding it in place without the gear. Then you can slip the gear over the 4 bolts and secure the gear with wing nuts. To remove just spin off the wing nuts and go home.

Thanks for the measurements. I either take the main gear off for transport or buy a trailer. Took a break from flying gas and have been flying foamys for a few years. Man how time passes fast when your having fun! Waiting for a couple of people to who actually owns one to to tell me their overall weight and their set up before I pull the trigger.

Sounds like a great plane.
What length motor stand offs are you using for the DA or DL ? I think the DL requires a 1/8 longer stand off.
Does anyone have a video?
