Default Wild Hare Edge 540 purchase

Im considering buying one of these airplanes, the Wild Hare Edge 540, and the Wild Hare Edge 540V2. Which do you recommend?

The larger wing span is the better floater, but either one is an excellent choice.  Both perform extremely well.

I am new to the 50cc class, I purchased the 540T V2 and cannot be happier. The assembly was non eventful and the plane flys great. Landings are slow and gentle. You can't go wrong with either, and the support from Tom is second to none.

I guess if I was pretty new to the gas scene, I'd go with the V2. It saves $20 I think and it's virtually the same airplane. The look a little different (single canopy vs. douple canopy) and the scheme is different. I doubt for your first gas plane you'd ever notice any difference in the wing loading. I had a V2 and loved it and gave it away to a friend. Recently I just purchased the 88" but have not even got it together yet.

An Edge is an excellent choice for a first gas plane. Very easy to fly and friendly. Yet....when you're ready....it will 3D with the very best. And the Wild Hares are an excellent choice. Very high quality and fly outstanding.

Good luck with your choice.
Thanks
Barry

I bought a used Wild Hare Edge 540 V1 & flew it 3 times & had to repair the landing gear 3 times. I didnt even land that hard either. Maybe i just got a bad one or something but i ended up selling it....I did see the V2 540 at a local fly in & seemed to be a very nice plane, it really slowed down on landings without stalling.

I learned on my Wild Hare Edge the importance of the relationship of the CG to landing speed of the airplane. Too much nose weight and the plane lands significantly faster and has a higher potential for damage to the airframe, Although my experience is that the airframe is very robust!! Do not ask how I might know that!!

If the gear area does get compromised, a number of threads here have shown excellent repairs for you to peruse.I learned that this plane will land at what seems to be a much too slow speed(compared to smaller planes). I would not trade my Edge V1 for anything. 4 years old and have a smile on my face after each flight.

Customer service from Tom is second to none.

Guess I am kinda sold on Wild Hare.

John

Wow, you had to repair the repair? Something sounds a little off.
