RE: Using Gorrilla glue???
I'm getting ready to build a Joe Bridi Aero Commander and am thinking of using Gorilla Glue to glue down the 1/64" sheeting to the foam panels. I'm concerned about using spray contact cement (3M) because if I screw up and don't get it down right, there is no way I can get another wing for a kit that was put out in 1973.
I could use carpenters glue but that would come in kind of heavy, same with epoxy. Any comments or suggestions on this? 3dbob |
RE: Using Gorrilla glue???
I have a builder who builds my Carden airplanes for me. He insists that polyurethane (Gorrilla glue) is the only way to go. All I know is the wings sure are smooth when he is done. Dalton Aviation uses epoxy to do his. He says & I quote, "It takes 7 oz. of glue to glue up a set of 42% wings no matter what glue you use". The only airplane kit I ever built that had sheeted foam wings, I used Sorghum to apply the sheeting. I guess whatever floats your boat, if done right, will do a good job. I do know that gorrilla glue works very well though & is easy to work with.

RE: Using Gorrilla glue???
I like gorilla glue for hinges and other re-enforcement. Its really easy to work worth and dries slowly - good qualities for hinging.
Tony built my first 260 :) The one I built seems to fly the same using Gorilla glue on the hinges so I dont see much of a big difference. They both weigh the same too. |
