Hi,

I spent 3 months looking for the best biplane and engine combination - I looked at the Great Planes Pitts 1/3 scale ad about a dozen others - I wanted a large model - ARTF - well made - good looking with blistering aerobatic performance.

Power wise I wanted reliability, easy to find spares, bomb proof engine and the ability to be torque rolling and then nail the throttle bng the smoke on and dissappear up the vertical like a rat up a drain pipe.

After talking to many people the combo I settled for was a WH Ultimate with a Zenoah G62 with metl geraed srvos all rear mounted, smoke oil tank on the CoG.

Many will reccomnd the DA etc becuase they are light and powerful for a 50cc but they are still 50cc. AND a DA with the muffler, header battery etc isnt that much lighter. If you pit a DA in it and mount all your servos at the rear where they should be for short slopfree linkages you might end up putting lead in the nose and what is the point in that????!!!!!

In addition the DA is twice the price of the Zenoah over here (UK).

Two of your countrys phrses spring to mind - thres no substitute for cubic inches - and Go Figure!

The G-62 would be a very good choice.

The Ralph Cunningham (RCIGN1-RCU here on RCU) converted to EI G62 would be expecially nice and is the engine I plan to put in my WH composite Sukhoi. I also have one in a 28% WH Extra but have not flown it yet because I'm mid stream in a move to Utah. I have about 6 of his engines and they run extremely well and are much lighter than the stock version.

He takes off that big thing that spins around with magnets in it to create your spark and makes it into a battery ignition system.

I believe Ralph charges $500 to purchase an engine that is already fully converted and ready to go minus battery. He will also convert your existing G62 for around $150. Please check with him for current charges but I think I'm very close. Very nice setup, clean and makes a great engine easier to start and run. You will find Ralph to be a no nonsense guy who is ultra honest and stands behind his product 110%.
