RE: Fresh Ideas
Now that looks sharp. Talk about a versatile airframe. I think I almost like the lines more as an Edge.

RE: Fresh Ideas
About 6 weeks. The container is supposed to leave April 10.

RE: Fresh Ideas
Much better! ;)
Dan ORIGINAL: rctom First look at the real 33% Edge |
RE: Fresh Ideas
Also, a Votec is a modified DR-109. Better known as the 2-place "One Design." It looks like they added a cantilever tail and some I have seen have a scoop on the bottom of the cowl for cool air intake. I am sure there are other changes those are just te few that jump out at me. Here is a link to the original DR-109.

RE: Fresh Ideas
Ahhhhh thats better. I was going to post asking if you were going to make a more "edge" like cowl. Good to see your one step ahead [8D]

RE: Fresh Ideas
You know what else I have noticed??? Nobody makes a good all wood true 35% Edge 540 ARF. These 33% are fine but I have all the gear for a 35% [&:]

RE: Fresh Ideas
I can't get ahead....................my Cap came in yesterday and now Tom is showing this 33% Edge knowing I will want one.
33% Edge, would you recommend a BME 110 for this? |
RE: Fresh Ideas
Airframe is really similar to the 260. Its a lot easier to balance with a BME then the DA 100. For my purposes I had to mount my batteries aft and place rudder servos in the tail. So it was really only slightly more work to balance. The 260 is one sweet 3D machine. That being said with Edge wings I would think its going to have even better high alpha flight.

RE: Fresh Ideas
Now lets just hope Desert Aircraft releases their 75 within the next 6 weeks! It should be light enough to balance perfect with this plane & give good performance as well.

RE: Fresh Ideas
I really like the way the canopy hatch matches the wings..............
Haven't seen that on other planes. |
RE: Fresh Ideas
You need the servos in the tail with the DA. With the BME 110 she balances fine with a pull-pull configuration, but with the BME 100 I still needed the batteries pretty far back. Flight batteries behind the hatch, ignition battery behind the wing tube.

RE: Fresh Ideas
I have the 260. Tom said the Edge is a design useing the 260 fuse as a base so it should be the same.
|
RE: Fresh Ideas
The DA 100 required rudder servos in tail and batteries as far aft as possible. I am doing a lot of work to my 260 to make it really custom and sweet right now. The Edge is really based on the 260 with different cowl, landing gear and wings. I just chose DA because its what I like.
The DA 75 should be sweet. I myself like twins over singles. Just smoother and I think more torque. I would think some lightweight twin in the 80cc range would be sweet. If you are careful you can come out very light. Even with the DA 100 I came in around 23.5lbs. |
RE: Fresh Ideas
I'd like to step up to the 33% from my 28%wh edge Tom,very nice.
|
RE: Fresh Ideas
You wont regret the step up in size. 1/3rd scale flies so much better than 28% and it really does not cost a whole lot more. In fact if you really wanted to save money sell off the airframe and engine less servos. You would be about half way there with only needing to purchase a few more servos depending on your setup. I just wanna see the new Edge flat spin. My old Edge would do the flatest spins ever.

RE: Fresh Ideas
Tom has this new 33% 540 been flown yet. im assuming so since you have them coming.
How does it fly ? |
RE: Fresh Ideas
Is is me or is the fuse short looking from the wing to the horizontal stab on the new edge, comparing it to say the H9 Edge, the wildhare looks shorter, or is it just the picture angle or something, can you comment on this Tom.....

RE: Fresh Ideas
Ey tom how about a nice decathlon or citabria ive heard others mention it in a 100cc size hehe
|
RE: Fresh Ideas
Tom what about the Citabria or Decathlon 50cc size? You seem to be avoiding the question.
N |
RE: Fresh Ideas
I've answered this question about 50 times, I get tired of repeating myself.
I do not plan to build a Decathlon. TF |
RE: Fresh Ideas
How about giving me an answer then.
has the 540 been flown. how does it fly |
RE: Fresh Ideas
Not sure. I left it with a friend to test, have not heard from him in a week.
