Here are some flying shots from today. I will look for my setup shots. I know they are lurking somewhere around here or on the FG website.

Have Bill Hempel's setup notes for this airframe ever been published???

Has anyone put the rudder servos in the tail???

I am running the Seiko servo so right now no. I imagine things will change if I go to cans and or a different motor.

Yes, I run my servos in the tail. I fabricated my own push rods out of carbon rods, 4-40 all thread and jb weld. I have about 150 flights on it with no issues. Rudder authority is quite strong. I am using 2 8611A's.

What was involved in moving the rudder servos to the tail??? Did you have to peal back the covering, make hard-points for the servo install, then recover??? I haven't found a suitable location in the tail for the rudder servos without major surgery... If you have any pics, I would appreciate it if you posted them...

Look about 12 inches ahead of the rudder hinge line. There should be servo holes already cut there. Just remove the covering from the hole and go.

Ok, I got my batteries in and looks like I'll be going pull-pull on the rudder. I have two 5955's for the rudder now. do ya'll think three will be necessary? I'll be playing a little with 3-d. But 95% of my flying will be just IMAC flying. I'm just thinking about going ahead and getting one more 5955 and setting it up right the first time ;).
Also are ya'll having to cross the cables in the fuse? I'm currently looking at the 3" SWB's double-loc arms. Are there any better?

Shaun,

From what I have experienced, three 5955s are perfect on pull-pull and two work well if you place them in the tail on push-pull. Two is not quite enough on pull-pull.
You'll love the plane, it really flies great, even after you doink it (ask me how I know);)

This seems to be the norm to have to add a servo if you are using pull/pull. That was the deciding facctor for me putting them in the tail.

Hey Tom I know you are going to read this. You are one of the few people selling planes that check out their products on the web. I had your 28% Edge, put several hundred flights on it. Flew great and held together with little maintainence. I also have about 40 flights on your WH 41% Extra. This is a very strong and lightweight plane (38.3 lbs) a total joy to fly with no bad habits. Keep up the good work Tom!

For those interested I've got a set of counterbalance stabs and the large rudder....the owner gave em to me. He is using the other ones instead and was just going to throw these out.

make me an offer.
