Looks great! Have you flown it? I love mine and will be ordering a second as soon as I can scrounge the money together.

Later,

Dan

Going to maiden this week (weather permitting). I set it up a little differently than the prototype and am anxious to get it in the air. Dean

I'm envious, jealous, and think you're a no good, low down, mean and rotten whatever since you have one and I don't;) Then again, I couldn't haul it anyway:eek: Well, perhaps I could haul it, but there would be no place at home to store it. Damn!

RE: 41% Eye Candy

I know you do a lot of Tom's planes so I bet you really do want one. But look at where you live and the climate you get to enjoy. I wish I had that to fly in. But nooooo, where I live it's excessively hot , humid, and generally crummy weather. We have two seasons here near Houston, summer and about summer. I am envious of you for that. So using your logic I guess that makes you no good, low down, mean and rotten also. :D:D:D

I think Tom is fixin to ship mine. Just got the space to keep all the big planes. Will double as a place for my drums!

RE: 41% Eye Candy

You're absolutely right. I really would like to have one. When it comes to heat I'll trade ya. You don't want to work where I do...over 130 in the summer. Yea, I know, it's a dry heat...[:o] Thought about moving to Texas but my wife said it was too hot. So this past week she had me go out and buy a new swamp cooler for the house here:eek:

I'll never deny being mean, rotten, spoiled, and all that other stuff. Toss in old, cranky, sneaky, and opinionated:D

RE: 41% Eye Candy

I got in 2 flights early this week before it started raining heavily and I had to quit until this coming weekend. Here is my early assessment. It flies like its on rails. Rolls were very axial at any attitude. Very little knife edge coupling noticed. Stalls are predictable and spin entries have a nice subtle but noticeable break. Slow flight is rock solid. Harriers and hovers are also very stable. I flew it from the rearward wing socket making it a bit nose heavy which is how I like it for IMAC flying. However, I opened up all the holes to be able to fly it from the front socket but haven’t done so yet. My set up is a DA150, MTW flex headers, KS canisters, 2 5955's each wing, 1 5955 each elevator, 3 5955's on rudder in a SWB self adjusting tray, 1 mini digital throttle servo, 1 cheap choke servo, 3 Fromeco batteries, regulators, etc. this plane is definitely a winner!

Fixed Wing, I should be getting my WH 41% Extra 300 next week. Your setup is very similar to what I will be using . Do you know what your all up dry weight is?

Fixed Wing,

Are those cuffs I see ??? Did they come with the Plane ? painted ? etc. or your added touch?

This one came in at 40 lbs 6 oz . That's with a digital scale and is not fudged like some will do when telling the weight of their planes. I had a prototype that came in at 38.5 pounds. Even at 40 plus pounds this plane flies very, very light because of the wing area (bigger than most). Things I did that I know added weight were adding canisters as apposed to stock mufflers, using 4 cell batteries on the receivers rather than 2 cell, installing a sturdier plywood support for the SWB rudder tray, completely boxing in the canister tunnel, using an aluminum spinner rather than a carbon fiber spinner, used heavier wiring throughout, and I'm using 1/4 x20 thumb knobs rather than the nylon screws for the wing mounts. Yes, I know I probably could have shed some weight in my setup but it flies so good the way it is and these are things I prefer to do. Good luck with yours. Let us know how it goes. Dean

Yes, they are cuffs that come with the plane. They are already painted white. I added the red and blue stripes. Dean

Trust me I've started, I need a couple of days off, that would realy help. I should have most of it done by the end of the week.

That 150 sure looks nice against that gray stone paint. My standoff is similar to yours except I ended up putting a washer thickness more right thrust in mine.

Yeah, they are going to be red/white/blue with black helmet visor and shoulder straps. At least that's what I asked for. I'll post a photo when I get one.

Did you put that washer in after you flew it? I'll have just enough clearance if I need it.

Cool Tom thanks, the pilots will look good

Yes, I did. I flew it first without the washers and determined I needed more right thrust after several trim flights. Then I added one washer up and one washer down both on the left side to create more right thrust. Now the thrust feels correct. I started with 1/8" clearance between my spinner back plate and the cowl ring. There's a tad less clearance now on the right side but still plenty.

Looking good! After I take my test I will have some serious free time again and will get mine going. That spinner looks nice!
