RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Wow...A Baby Edge Replacement!!! I just purchased a used Baby Edge and now have all the goodies to transfer over to the newer version when it becomes a reality. This could be great. I'll put this thread on the back burner. Thanks...Tom!

RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Tom,
Any update on this plane. Is it still in the mill? |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Yes, it's still on and I think they are being built now. They will be a lot lighter and are suitable for electric or glow and possibly small gas. IfI had my choice I'd probably power it with an OS 1.20 AX or even a .91FX, it's that light.
There will be an Extra 260 version also. TF |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Could we see some pictures

RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Tom
you have to stop!! wait a minute..well..ok..dont stop!! hehe You keep releasing fine planes and I am very excited about this one. Any chance of getting s super light 73" CAP 232? With the dissapearance of Chip Hyde and the loss of the famous Cap-X (my current fav glow plane) there is a void in the 1/4 scale market. If you could come up with a super light 73"ish CAP 232 id buy 2 right now without even a need for pics from you. 160fx's are great motors but very few airplanes that are built light enough to use them in the "unlimited" sense as many pilots prefer. I look forward to the Edge and Extra and hope a CAP joins the squadron. oh, sorry..I was thinking out loud again :D |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
I could get a 25% Cap easily enough, but I can't get just a few and the builder wont start up the line for less than 50 planes. That means I sit on 40-45 Caps until who knows when.

TF not to get off topic but the edge looks GREAT Tom! I would order one but the demons on my shoulder say to wait out a bit and hope the CAP arrives one of these days :) |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Tom, any pics available for us yet?
|
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
No, sorry. The Edge will look like an Edge.

RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Tom, you a funny guy! And I think you may be a pusher or something because I seem to be adicted to these damn Bunny's. But I guess I will have to have (another) one. If there is only one color then that is the color I want. If there are choices then I will need to include my chioce in my email to Patty. Let us know about the color choices. We can probably figure out what an Edge looks like, well most of us anyway.
One a different slant, I think I would like to try an electric for this plane but I know less than nothing about sizing everything electric for this plane. Do you or anyone out there have recommendations for a good electric setup for this plane. Motor size? ESC size? Battery size, etc. |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
hehehehe...Tom, i hope so!
But just a look at the color scheme(s), the insides of the structure, size of elevators and rudder etc would be nice too. :D Sailing1, i would be happy to help you out with a electric power setup for your baby edge. I am waiting to convert the 28% Edge V2 to electric or maybe i will have to settle for this one...lets see. With the numbers Tom has given, an 8cell to 10 cell lipo setup will give plenty of 3D power. |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Hi Tom.
Would you happen to know when the new baby Edge shipment will be, and if there will be any available for a direct shipment to Probuild here in the UK. Aeroboy |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
They are being built now, and will probably be available to ship within a few weeks. Probuild is welcome to order them, I think that you talking to them would be the proper course of action.
If Probuild does order some you will probably see them before I do. TF |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Absolutly Tom. I am only trying to find out approximate dates. I will of course e-mail Pete at probuild first.
My YS 1.40 is in desperate need of a Wildhare Home and I can't afford another 50cc'er just yet. As a brief side note thou' I am trying out some hi-tec 5625 digitals they seem to be good except for being a bit slow to center. They center o.k but if you give them full deflection and release the stick quickly they appear to slow down when close to center. As many modellers across the pond use them and seem to get on well with them do they need to be programmed to speed up centring ?? |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
ah, a Extra 260, that be nice! look forward to pics once you get them. I have 2 ys 140's, and a os120 somewhere that would love to find a new home :D

RE: Baby Edge replacement?
These new 1.20 size planes are xtremely light, so I'd be careful about putting a big 4 stroke on it. I flew mine with an OS 1.60 2 stroke, way too much power and the 2 stroke has a lot less vibration.
As far as 5625s centering, they just don't. That's what you pay the extra $35 per servo for when you get a 5985, good centering. The 56xx is a decent servo but centering is not its best feature. TF |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
rctom,
No four-strokes, or no BIG four-strokes?? 1.25 Saito perhaps?? |
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
I think the 1.25 Saito will be ok. I'm just worried about what would happenlong term with a 1.80 on it. The plane doesn't need that much power and may react unfavorably to the vibration.

RE: Baby Edge replacement?
So hows the babys doing Tom my Saito 1.25 is itching LoL so am I :D
|
RE: Baby Edge replacement?
Still about 2 months out.
