RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
This is the first I have heard of the cowl ring not lining up, I will look into it.

I just installed my Brillelli 366GT in my Sukhoi, now I got to wait for good weather to fly it with the new engine. I used a TBM DA50 header with 50mm drop and a 3W canister. I put the servos near the CG then ran golden rods to the carb for the throttle and choke. I used black foamboard to close the front of the cowl, any air that gets in has to go through the cooling fins. I put a little CF on the bottom mounts for the cowl, the cowl's had a tough life so far due to the other motor's problems.

What weight are your guys getting with this plane. I'm really starting to talk myself into this plane! I have a DL 50 that needs a home. Thanks!

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
To add to Sewerdude's question, how well does the plane balance out with a DL-50 or DA-50? The cowl seems a little heavy to me and might require a little weight in the tail to balance it out, or can just moving the receiver battery around take care of it? I'm using pull-pull for the rudder.

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
The plane will balance just about right with DA/DL 50 and pull-pull rudder.

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
chuck-
I had to add weight to the nose initially and have pulled that weight when I started replacing items with CF stuff in the tail. I agree with Tom that it is fairly neutral. I have a DA-50 with Cannister, 5955's all around and rudder pull-pull. Stab in aft position with CF stab tube and CF tailwheel bracket. Using 2S-2100 lipo for ign and another for rcvr (via regs of course). Dave Brown spinner up front (sort of heavy) and I don't have any lead anywhere. Ign batt is right under front of canopy hatch and the rcvr lipo is on front part of tray where rcvr is mounted. Slightly aft CG now which feels pretty good... Jason |

I now tape all my crystals in place. |
RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
Old picture - crystal has been taped in for some time now ;)
Thanks, Jason |

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
I finaly managed to pick up mine last night after having it delivered to a friend during the week, and all I can say is that I am impressed with what I have seen so far.
I know it has been mentioned that you get wing bags with it know, but I do not think the fact that they are great high quality wing bags with a slot to store your wing tube in has been mentioned. Cheers Pupmeister |
RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
Thank you for mentioning it then.
Those are new, the ones with the tube sleeve. They forgot to do that on the first one. I have to tell them everything, then they forget half of what I tell them. Anyway I'm glad you like the plane. TF |
RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
I did it, i ordered the Honda Sukhoi today. Now the waiting begins. Oh well I'd have to fit it with floats or skis with the weather wev'e been having here in the NW. I hope to keep getting much needed information from this thread as I am a first timer to the world of large scale and gas. I must admit I'm a little intimidated to have this much cash wrapped up in one plane.

I took my yellow and red one to the club meeting tonight, for "show and tell". It drew quite a crowd!:) I wish I knew when I could start on it!

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
Hi Guys, Tom maybe you can answer this. Has anyone matched the color/brand of the covering used on the Honda SU? I ordered the plane a few days ago from Tom and while awaiting delivery thought I'd start piecing some components delivery. I got to thinking about hinge gap sealing and I'd really like to use a close color match instead of the usual "clear" covering. Any bad remember what they used for any repairs?
Thanks Chris |
RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
I wanna say that I used True Red from H9, but I honestly can not remember exactly. Turns out it was the exact same color as the red on the H9 Sukhoi...
|
RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
Yes it's True Red.
|
RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
I used Ultracote True Red Also and it was a perfect match.
But for the hinge gap seals, for the first time I tried the 3M clear vinyl tape that everyone recomends. I have to admit it it great stuff to use for the gap seal. You can actually remove it without a problem if you need but the best part it fast and easier then covering. I picked it up at Menards in the paint department. Jim |
RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
The plane is covered in true red Ultracote.

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
Thanks guys! All help is appreciated. The bottom of the wing is white, correct?
|
RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!
Yes, with a inch of red around the edge. Super looking plane, I think it stands out because it doesn't have sunbursts or swooshes all over like most ARFs.
