Default Ys FZ 110S, just want to make sure.

This is my first YS, bought it second hand back in oct and am just getting around to tuning it. I fired it up the other day and it kicked right off, idled great ran it up and seemed to be doing great. It blew the line off the regulator so I shutting down(fuel was spraying out like crazy). I safety clipped all the lines and tried restarting. Gave me a fit but got it going again. Wouldn't stay running with glow igniter disconnected so I tried doing some hs needle tuning and found it to be a totally different animal then my Saito's. It seemed very sluggish to respond to changes in the needle valve, if I turned it in or out it would take a good amount of time to respond. So I decided to shut it down before I screwed something up.

My question is this, what are good settings to begin with on the needles and regulator. Also, are there any specific bits of advice when tuning these engines?

They vary much between engines but if you have the regulator screw flush with the regulator body, the HSN about 1.75 turns out, and the LSN 1 turn in from flush.
Remember the LSN works like an airbleed and it's out for leaner.

Excellent, thank you. I'm looking forward to getting this running right, it's a really impressive engine.

This might be of assistance....

http://www.ysengines.net/manuals-dow.../FZ110-YSP.pdf

If yours is the "S", that manual is at the same website.
