Has anyone had favorable results with this engine? I had no almost compression after about fifteen gallons of Magnum 20/20 fuel. This was resolved with replacing the cylinder head and valves. Now I've got compression, a reliable idle and mid-range. My concern is that the engine runs best at only one turn out on the needle and I still get only about 8500 rpm with an APC 14X10. Any thoughts?

It doesn't really matter where the HS needle falls as long as the engine is set properly. 8500 on a 14x10 is low but is can easily be affected by weather. You might check to see if the valves are too tight. Set them both at .003".
