Hi Dave,
I was wondering about the 12.25 x 3.75 prop myself thinking it would be great on the 63. I only have about one gallon run in my engine but the 14 x 4 seemed to be a little too much. It still had great responce....better rev up than my Irvine 53's or anything else I have ever had.
Has anyone tached the 63 with that prop? By the way as much as I think of my 53's I really think you have a great engine here 63.
Thanks,
Tim

As I said before, you won't be running this prop at full throttle. Don't run it at full throttle on the ground. Adjust the engine with a 12x6 or 11x7, and then switch to the 12.75x3.75. If your airplane is very light, you can then fly this prop at partial throttle for good hovering. If your airplane is too heavy, don't use this prop as you will have to run at too high a throttle setting for hover. Max weight has to be under 3 pounds. Thanks for your comment on the 63. It's likely the most reliable in the YS line, I only wish I could get them to make more of them. They are always in short supply.
Good Flying,
Dave

Thanks Dave, well my Top Cap is too heavy for that but my Su-do-koi may come in that light.
Have you been seeing the Free Style Seduction post that use this litte engine. They are getting great reviews.
Thanks,

Hi Tim
If you think that the 14x4 is a little much try a 13x4W from APC. I ran that prop on my 53, on a 4.5 lb Top Cap, and had noooo problem with hovering or power. I am cranking ~11K with the 13x4W on 25% nitro, so on the 63 it should be even better.
I should have my Seduction up and running in a couple of weeks on the 53, probably 13x6 prop. I will switch to the 63 once Dave can get some more in!!

Tim;
The YS 63 is one of the most powerful or is the most powerful in it's class. I run a 12 X 7 APC and it already turn's in excess of 12+K. a 13 X 6 APC turn's in excess of 11K. To put a smaller prop on a 63 is just nut's. Adjust prop size accordingly and use throttle management. Dave your absolutely correct there is no better in any class this is most reliable I've seen.

Can,
I have seen the videos of this plane in action and I tell you what I really want one. I have some building to do first I seem to already have two still in the boxes but I really think they are on to something with that plane.
I wonder why YS don't go ahead and take the gas plunge into the 50cc or greater area. I am not into marketing but it seems all of us start smaller and then grow our fleet to larger or at the very least higher performance airplanes. How about it Dave any comments?
Call me crazy but if I could get a GP Giles and re-work the heck of of it may it could be 4 lbs. or so I put that little 63 in it and have a ball. I am open to suggestions?

I have a YS 63 on my top cap Arf. I fly it w/ a 14x4 zinger. It will peak at 10,800, I fly it at 10,000-10,200. I am very happy w/ this engine combo. I think w/ a 12.25x 3.75 size prop is way to small, your over rev, your engine.
13x6 APC peaks 11,600 fly it at 10,800
Put you a 13x6 or 14x4zinger or 14x4W Apc on it and fly. You will love it. You bought a $250 motor might as will use it. Instead of worrying about only running less than 3/4 throttle.
My combo will take off in less than 5ft. will hover my topcap arf about 1/4 throttle, and pull out at 1/2, shoots out @ 3/4, and like a gun at full. If you go w/ the 12.25 you will be dissappointed in your motor and your plane.
the 12.25x3.75 works great on OS 46 or 50, TT 46, ST 45, Irvine, 46 or 53.
Not a power house like the YS 63, you need a bigger prop to realize the power of the 63.
