Hi Dave,
Hate to bug you, but I just spent two weekends trying to get a FOX 74 to run - what a joke that's been. I then remembered I had a perfectly good YS 61 laying around for about 8 years. It has been on the shelf since Futaba put new bearings and a diaphragm in it.
Here's the problems. Carb was stuck from the residual castor, so that had to be cleaned - no biggie. I looked at the regulator's plunger - it was free and moved ok.
I put it on the test stand and tried to start it. I turned the prop over 10 times to prime it. It did not want to suck up the fuel. I then poured fuel directly into the carb. It fired right up and idled great. I thought I was home free.
I was wrong. When I tried to advance the throttle, it died. Closed the throttle again and it fired right up again. Advancing the throttle produced the same results as before. I let it sit for a minute while I pondered the situation. Fuel was leaking past the front bearing, and also filling up the carb body.
What gives?? Any suggestions??? Is there something internal in this carb that is stuck?? Allowing the built up tank pressure to flood out the carb, and out the front bearing? It will not run at wide open throttle - It starves for fuel then.
thanks

Ok I can support the theory of a hole in the diaphragm. When I pulled it apart, I had to stretch the daylights out of it to produce a obvious hole. Now I just spent a hour online trying to find a place to purchase parts for this engine to no avail. Any ideas?

Our service dept has all the parts for this engine. Give Richard a call at 775-782-4562. Maybe he can suggest some things to look for and get you the parts to do it!
