Default A question for Dave.

Hi. I have finally solved the excessive vibration problem by mounting the engine on a soft mount. The engine started fine and ran great but here is where the problem starts. I started the engine with the needle valve open 2 turns. At this time the engine was running rich, I tried to lean it by turning it clockwise and i turned around 1 full turn but there was no change in the rpm. Basically leaning wasnt making any increase in rpms. I stopped the engine and tried to restart. Trust me i tried around 20 times but the engine did not even start for even 1 second. Changed the prop, glow plug, fuel lines but no avail. Im assuming that the engine is flooded so i took off the glow plug and ran the engine with my starter, still it didnt start. Any advice on what mite be wrong or what i can do to make it start again? Any other way of unflooding the pump? My fuel lines are coming from the fuel tank to a filter then from filter to remote glow fueler valve and then from remote glow fueler valve to the engine. The vent line is open to the air. Fuel is 20% klotz, 5% nitro and rest methanol. I showed it to experienced guys at the field and even they couldnt make out what is wrong since this is the first dingo in this country. I know this is lengthy but plz try to help me because I really am frustrated. This is a new engine with only 2 flights and now im spending hrs on the field just to make it start and still it wouldnt start. Thnx

You need to change the fuel. The problem is that you do not have enough power to turn the prop you are using and the engine is working much too hard. This is the main cause of the vibration.
Get rid of the fueling valve. These are a source of leakage and can cause all kinds of problems. Fuel dots work much better.

Hi dave. I think ive figured out the cause of my problem. When i turn the prop anti-clockwise the fuel is going away from the pump into the fuel tank. Whereas if I turn it clockwise the fuel is coming into the pump(the fuel lines are plugged correctly) So basically the reason the engine is not starting is because there is no delivery of fuel to the pump. An experienced guy at my field checked and said that the pump is not sucking any fuel and even if it is sucking it is sucking in forms of drops and not a constnt flow Do you think the pump has gone bad or is there any other reason? i even tried fuel with 20% nitro, 20% castor and rest methanol but still it wouldnt start. Twice it did start when i put some raw fuel into the carburetor but shut off after 5 seconds since the fuel was not being delivered properly. Please advise what to do the engine is brand new only 2 flights should i send in for inspection? if yes how much will it cost? thnx

It could have a bad pump, it is rare, but possible. The only charge to you will be for the shipping to us as long as we can see that the engine was not damaged by you.
Please send it so we can get it fixed.

Dave
