91 FZ goes lean in the air
Hi Dave,
I have 91 FZ with about 3-4 gallons (20/20, Heli30%) thru it. Great compression, good idle, runs fine on the ground (stock muffler, 8800 rpms max on 14/10 APC on 20/20, I run always 200-300 below that, YS plug).
Plenty of smoke on the ground, but as soon plane takes off, looks like engine goes too lean, no smoke and some power loss. Richening the h/s needle even few clicks creates problems with dead sticks (it open 2 turns now), it just floods the plug.
The plane is Quest 3D, I don’t think there is problem with overheating, when it comes down, the engine has good compression and not too hot. Tank holds pressure fine.
Regulator flush with the body, tried to lean it up to 2 turns with opening h/s needle, no help.
I’m puzzled. Never had this problem before with any of my YS.
Thanks.

RE: 91 FZ goes lean in the air
I use Tetra tank, it has 45-degree angle before it goes to the back.
Clunk has maybe 1/8 ‘’ to that 45-degree side. About 3/8'' to the back.
But I’ll take a look one more time at the whole fuel line set up.
