Default DZ140 wirst pin

Hi Dave
Sunday during flight my Dz stops.I've try to restart it but run erratic, when i disconnect the glow driver the engine stops.i change the plug with a new one but none.Monday take apart engine from plane and check for loose screw or leak o-ring.After i've dismount the engine and surprise my wirst pin was broke.do you think is a defect or a my error?. The engine have about 4 gallons of 25% nitro -22% synthetic oil, 15,5-12W apc @8.500 and air restrictor.
Thanks in advance.

It is not your error. Where did you buy the engine? It should be repaired under warranty.

I am sure Yamada would fix it under warranty, but are you saying the shipping would cost too much?

Hi Dave
I've received my parts and running the Dingo again.
Change wirst-pin ,conrod and piston, but the engine don't run well
I've set valve clearance like instruction, cam gear idem but the engine run low with a lot of smoke and only 6 minutes of flight(tank empty) with a 545cc tank.
Normally i use cool-power 30hely 15.5-12W apc and Os F plug. the needle valve is 1-3\4 open, regulator flush and have 9000 rpm with restrictor at 200ft msl.
Now with run only 8500 rpm and with a 15-12 9060. My 140 L run the 15-12 on same fuel 9100 rpm.
I've tried to lean the pump, but transition remain rought and i must open needle valve 2-1\2 turn to run right and engine is hot.
Needle valve problem?
Pump?
Cam gear timing?
I've notice that you tell piston at TDC and mark on camshaft straight up , but in my instruction tell mark on crankshaft straight down with camgear mark straight up and there's about 25 deg. of difference
Which is the right?
Thanks in advance
Mirco

My guess is that you have also damaged the cylinder liner and ring as you did not say you replaced them.

I would advise returning the engine to the USA so that we can fix it correctly.

Hi Dave
the liner is perfect i've tried it on another Dz that i have, and i replace the ring (i forgot to tell you)
Opening the engine show that the front bearing oil seal is damage.
i've change it an when i return from vacation in august i run the engine.
For camgear timing what can i do?
Thanks again Dave and when i return home I write you the results.

The cam gear punch mark should go straight UP when the engine is at TDC.

Good Luck.

Hi Dave
i returned fron vacations and run the DZ again.
Now it's work great,i think it loose pressure for pump from oil seal.
Now the needle is 1-3/4 open and 12 minutes of run.
Many thanks for your patience
Have a nice day
