YS 63 problem
Hi
I recently sent my engine in for service to Gardnerville. It had been in a crash a few years ago and would not pressurize. At this service, the cylinder head and crankshaft were replaced. I am still having trouble getting it to run properly. At high throttle, I have the high needle out about 2.25 turns and turning over 10K rpm with a 13 X 5 prop, yet it is putting out a ton of smoke. If I try to lean it at all, it dies. The low needle is at about 1.25 to 1.5 out and idles OK, but if I advance the throttle slghtly, there is a tremendous rpm surge. Also, if I try to kill it from idle, I get the same rpm surge. My last flight, it went dead stick while my u-can-do 46 was inverted. Throttle was at least 3/4 open. Cannot see any obvious leaks. Appreciate your help.
