Default End float on sick YS91

Just changed out ys91 for ys110 in my EF 68" Yak54 (great expectations!). I noticed that the crankshaft on my YS91 has say 1 to 1.5mm of endfloat on the crank. Since I love these motors, I will be looking to recondition the 91 and was wondering what might be the problem with it. I had notice a fairly load clicking sound as the crank was rotated by hand in recent weeks......the noise is louder than the tappet click normally heard. I guess this motor has had say 8 (UK) gallons through it to date (not all by me)....this is my first post.

Hard to say exactly what might be wrong without seeing it. I would be inclined to send it for service.
