Is the 160 a good friend for all days use?
Hello, Dave:
I've 2 questions related to the YS 160 DZ. I have a SIG Extra 300 XS (12.5lbs) powered with a SAITO 180 and I'm not satisfied with its vertical performaces. I want to change this engine for another much more powerfull and not much heavier. My idea is to buy a YS 160 for this plane .The questions are:
1.- Would it be enougt to get spectacular hoveing maneuvers?
2.- Is this engine so friendly as the 110 is, and adecuate for the normal (not competition) daily use?
I'm very satisfied with my YS 110 which has been running great for more than 70 flights at this moment, and I'm getting more and more confident on those magnificent engines, which are a bit hard to understand in the beginning, but really powerfull, smooth and reliable when you learn how to deal with them. Now I'm encoureged to buy my fourth YS, mainly thank to you and your contribution on this forum which is the bigest help that me and others can find.
Thank you for your effort.
Regards,
Javier

At 12.5 pounds the 160 DZ will fly the airplane much better than the Saito 180.
The DZ engines are happiest on fuel like Cool Power 30% heli because of the low viscosity oil used in that type fuel.
As far as being an everyday flier, the 160 is as reliable as the 110.
Hope this helps.
Good Flying!

I have a 160DZ in a H9 260 that weighs 13.5 lbs. This engine pulls the aircraft well with unlimited EVERYTHING. Starts easy, transitions well and makes GOBs of power even running rich. I have a APC 18x10 prop, burn Cool Power heli 30% and turns 8500 rpm. Try it you will like it!

RE: Is the 160 a good friend for all days use?
Hi Dave:
I have ordered my YS 160 and I'm waiting for it ... it's not easy to get one...
I have a question about the mount. I have seen some photograps of this engines installed with special mounts with a spceial ring which seems to fix the front part of the engien to the nose of the plane .. it's that correct? and why? is it necesary or can I use a conventional mount?
Thank you in advance.

Javier

Hi again:
I can't see any specific mount for the YS160.[8D] but there are some for the 140 ... would them fit also for 160?
I've found there some interesting articles about mounts, rings and more.
Thanks for the link
