Default YS 160 DZ High Idle

I just installed a new 160 DZ in a giant U Can Do. It has about one hour of run time on Cool Power 30% heli fuel. Prop is 18X6W. My problem is that I can't get it to idle, with the throttle all the way closed it's lowest RPM is 2300 to 2400. Not to mention it won't cut off. It runs great with good throttle response. Unfortunately this plane will not come out of the sky turning 2400 RPM. The throttle plate is completely closed. Help.....

Leaking throttle barrel seal, or backplate bolts are loose.

I was looking at another YS 160 DZ I have that idles just fine and noticed that the throttle plate was able to rotate farther closed than the throttle plate on the engine I am having trouble with. I adjusted the throttle stop screw which allowed the throttle plate to rotate farther closed and it runs great now. It also stops great!

18X6W is not much prop for that motor. Try a 20X8 or 20X6.

Well, I really didn't want to mention the obvious solution to the problem. Can't believe you didn't back off the throttle stop screw!, But then, YOU said the barrel was completely closed, so I figured that you had already backed it out.

Good Flying.

Dave, I didn't know there WAS a throttle stop screw. Thanks for your patience, you're the best!
I will try a 20x6, thanks drbebob.
