Default Ppower rating?

Dave,

I saw the post where the YS-45 is only rated at 1.6 HP. Can that be true? This engine really seems to be more powerful than that. It very much appears to match my Rossi 45 rated at 2.1 HP, and outperform my Rossi 40 rated at 1.9 HP.

Perhaps I am asking the wrong question. Are there thrust ratings for different props? It is pulling my 6 lb Ultra Stick, accelerating into the vertical with absolute athority.

Default RE: Ppower rating?

Horsepower ratings are always subject to use factors. For instance, a Nelson 40 racing engine puts out almost 3 hp at nearly 30000 rpm, but it won't pull your Ultra stick worth a darn since the prop is only 7" long. It won't even pipe up on the prop you run on your YS 45. It's all a matter of application that the engine was designed for.
